Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 nurse to join the team on the Haematology Day Unit for malignant and non malignant haematological disorders. Every day is different and offers variety as we cover lots of different treatments and haematological disorders. We are the right unit for learning and gaining more skills with no nights or weekend working.
To support and deputise for the Junior Sister/Charge Nurse to ensure theprovision of excellent nursing care and the effective management of staff and otherresources. In the absence of the Junior Sister to carry out the day-to-day management andco-ordination of the ward/department. To ensure that there are education and trainingopportunities for all staff, including pre and post registration students
Main duties of the job
The candidate will need excellent venepuncture and cannulation skills and have a keen interest in haematology. We have close links to The Royal Marsden, King's College and Kingston universities which provide courses and degree modules specific to haematology. The successful applicant will join a highly skilled specialist team that offer treatments including chemotherapy, blood product transfusions and venesections to patients with both malignant and non-malignant haematological conditions.The post holder will be expected to provide and maintain high standards of care to our patients, be able to work autonomously as well as part of a cohesive team, have excellent communication skills and work within the multidisciplinary team. You will need to demonstrate the ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care to this highly specialist group of patients. The successful applicant must beable to organise and prioritise their own work load, to work within an environment that requires flexibility and the need to work under pressure.
