Senior Clinical Fellow in Gynaecology Oncology (Post CCT)

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology is looking to recruit a Senior Clinical fellow in Gynaecological Oncology with the opportunity to develop interest in oncology and complete the relevant ATSM. The post is available immediately for 12 months initially with the possibility of extending. This post is suitable for post CCT candidates. The post will have an on-call commitment on the middle grade-rota.
Croydon University Hospital caters to a diverse population and has an oncology unit which works closely with the Royal Marsden Hospital. Patients are managed by a team of specialist across several specialities. The O&G department has a Gynaecology Assessment Unit that continues to grow, and this is a great opportunity for a doctor to reinforce clinical skills and contribute to development of this service.
Applicants will have at least 5 year's experience in Obstetrics & Gynaecology and have MRCOG or equivalent. Gynaecology scan training will be provided for fellows who have not completed appropriate module. The job requires laparoscopic experience.
Croydon University Hospital is a large district general hospital which caters to a very diverse population. There are 14 full-time Consultants and an Associate Specialist. The middle grade consists of a Sub-Specialist Doctor and 12 Specialist Registrars/StR3+. There are 10 Senior House Officers with a mixture of Speciality trainees, GP trainees and Foundation doctors.

Main duties of the job

The duties under Consultant supervision include the following:

  • Conduct independent 2WW and Colposcopy clinics (if accredited)
  • Review of Oncology patients on the ward
  • Taking part in gynaecology clinics with the Consultant.
  • Ward rounds/ On-Calls on the Labour Ward
  • Attending gynaecological operating lists in the Main Theatre Suite and also in the Day Care Unit.

  • Relevant ATSM (acute gynaecology, gynaecology oncology, benign gynaecology

SKILLS/ABILITIES

Essential criteria

  • Diagnostic Laparoscopy
  • Manage Labour ward including performing CS, instrumental deliveries, perineal repairs, interpreting CTG and dealing with obstetric emergencies
  • Experience with gynaecology emergencies including managing ectopic pregnancies, miscarriage and the acute abdomen

Desirable criteria

  • Thearpeutic Laparoscopy
  • Gynaecology scanning

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Previous experience in O & G
  • More than 5 years as registrar
