This role involves identifying opportunities for sustainable practices, developing, and implementing sustainability plans, monitoring progress, and reporting results to internal and external stakeholders.

Working closely with employees, suppliers, customers, and community members to promote sustainable practices and raise awareness about environmental issues. Creating sustainable practices in our organisation to help save money in the long term and maintain our public image.

Responsibility for developing and implementing sustainability plans that align with the organisation's goals and values. Potential to oversee the implementation process and help lead it, reviewing it after it's complete to find areas for improvement.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct sustainability assessments to identify areas of opportunity and recommends actions to improve sustainability performance with the potential to present these findings to the public or an oversight board to maintain accountability for the company.
  • Focussing on client facing responsibilities to support in negotiations involving Master Services Agreements. Leveraging expertise to drive positive outcomes.
  • Assessment, co-ordination, and management of initiatives such as SBTI, EcoVadis registration and completion of documentation related to similar platforms as requested by our clients.
  • Maximising our investment in sustainability initiatives through thought leadership and working in conjunction with marketing to develop programmes such as webinars, lunch and learn sessions.
  • Coordinate sustainability initiatives including waste reduction, energy efficiency, and sustainable transportation. This could include allocating funds, informing business leaders of new potential initiatives, and staying up to date with sustainability trends and options.
  • Assessment of the sustainability of our suppliers to ensure compliance with current legislation.
  • Conduct research on sustainability best practices, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements, to keep the business informed and competitive as a sustainable organisation without compromising the company objectives.
  • Develop sustainability policies to ensure that the organisation remains compliant with environmental regulations and standards. Influence and draft internal policies and documents and update them as necessary.
  • Provide sustainability training to promote sustainable practices and encourage behavioural changes within the organisation.
  • Evaluate and implement sustainable technologies such as energy-efficient lighting and water-saving devices, to improve sustainability performance.
  • Explore and implement carbon reduction strategies with a view to reduce the organisation's carbon footprint.
  • Build partnerships with external organizations to gather resources and coordinate collective efforts toward sustainability goals.

  • Strategic thinking: To develop sustainable plans that align with the organisation's goals and values. Understand the complexity and nuances of environmental policy and business politics.
  • Business Acumen: To excel in crafting and advocation for sustainable processes to enhance the value proposition of our organisation.
  • Project management skills: Can manage complex sustainability projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Analytical skills: The ability to analyse sustainability data, conduct research, and identify trends, ideally with proficiency in data analysis software and other tools.
