Job Description

As the Group Reporting Director, you will be responsible for leading the delivery of the Group's primary external financial and non-financial market disclosures, including the annual report and accounts, climate and nature report, and social impact report.

You'll ensuring Legal & General maintains its strong reputation of providing market leading disclosures to stakeholders through fostering an environment of continuous improvement both in reporting processes and disclosures.

You will do this by heading the oversight and management of the Group's Financial Control Framework, ensuring that the Group maintains a robust control environment over financial reporting, and is compliant with the requirements of the UK Corporate Governance Code.

As an executive leader, you will have significant exposure to the Group CFO and divisional CFOs. You will have continuous interactions with Group's senior executives, auditors and engage with the PRA. You will also interact with the business units, FP&A team, treasury, tax and other Group functions, as well as the Group Audit Committee.

Your key responsibilities in this role will be:

  • Own, manage and drive production of the Group's consolidated financial statements on an IFRS (including related non-GAAP measures) and the Solvency Financial Condition Report (SFCR). As well as Quantitative Reporting Templates and Regular Supervision Report on a Solvency II basis, ensuring that there is consistency between the consolidated figures and the messages included in the Annual Report, the Analyst Pack, and the SFCR
  • Lead the production of the Group's non-financial reporting, including the Climate and Nature report, and the Social Impact report. This includes overseeing the implementation of the new ISSB reporting requirements.
  • Steer and develop the production of internal and external regulatory reporting and manage and report on key regulatory measures. You will also oversee the production of formal papers that feed into various Board, Audit Committee and other committee meetings.
  • Support the development of new reporting metrics, the associated technical policies for their calculation and the processes for the collection of data for use in internal management information and external reporting.
  • Continuously assess the Group's overall approach to external reporting (both financial and non-financial) to align with market best practice and ensure that the Group sustains its reputation for market leading disclosures.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key internal/external stakeholders, building upon strong existing working relationships.
  • Lead the oversight of the Group Finance Risk Committee, responsible for ensuring appropriate oversight and management of operational risk across Group Finance. Own and manage the delivery of the Model and Financial Control Framework.
  • Ensure that the appropriate Finance MI, process, and systems are in place to provide support to the business so that customers are treated fairly in line with Legal & General's commitment to put customers at the centre of our business and deliver good customer outcomes.
  • Be responsible for leading and managing a team.

Qualifications

We welcome applicants from a variety of backgrounds and experience, but you will need to demonstrate the following key skills to be considered:

  • A fully qualified Accountant with deep financial accounting knowledge in the Financial Services sector across relevant GAAPs (UK GAAP, IFRS) and measurement bases (Solvency I)
  • Have experience with governance, organisational, operational risk & control and infrastructure knowledge across financial services groups in multiple jurisdictions.
  • You have experience in delivering, and managing change projects and performing control remediation programmes for large scale operations.
  • Have a track record of working for insurers, and other financial services organisations, on finance, reporting and risk/control related matters.
  • You must have excellent relationship management, and formulating key stakeholder strategies
  • You will need to have experience as a functional lead, having led significant sized teams, with the ability to develop employees under you.
