Group IFRS Manager (Maternity cover)

What you'll do

This is a varied role providing technical accounting advice for finance teams throughout the Group, including operating companies and Group functions. This role includes the provision of accounting support for a broad range of commercial transactions and projects. The role will provide wide exposure to the Group's finance community as well as ongoing contact with the major accounting firms and peers in the wider telecommunications industry.

  • Provision of timely and high quality technical accounting guidance to all parts of the business, including the preparation of accounting memorandums and aligning conclusions with auditors.
  • Provision of specific guidance on the application of IFRS 15 and IFRS 16 to all parts of the business, liaising with the wider Group operational and analysis teams, external advisors and auditors.
  • The provision of good quality analysis of Group-wide financial information to provide insight and recommendations on financial reporting within the Group.
  • The drafting of application guidance for the Group's Financial Reporting and Governance Manual to reflect changes to IFRS or other identified accounting issues.

Who you are

  • ACA/ACCA qualified with at least 5 years' post-qualification experience.
  • A good working knowledge of IFRS (including IFRS 15 and IFRS 16) and the analytical skills to (i) research GAAP materials to determine appropriate accounting treatments; and (ii) identify and diagnose potential reporting issues from reported information..
  • Strong communication skills (written, aural and presentation) to summarise and explain complex issues.
  • Self-motivated to provide timely and good quality services for stakeholders' ad-hoc requests whilst managing priorities to ensure the completion of other longer-term deliverables.
  • The self-confidence to support accounting conclusions when challenged by stakeholders or advisers.

  • Discretionary yearly bonus: 20%
