As the Group Head of Health & Safety at Kingfisher you will assume the professional lead on Group health and safety policy and standards, and their application throughout our functions and in the retail banners. You'll also support the development of broader Group compliance and risks management through active coordination with Kingfisher, and external, H&S networks. A kay part of the role will also be to prepare high quality, insightful reports to the Group Executive Committee and Main Board.

What's the job?

  • Establish, maintain and monitor, through inspection, the Group H&S Management System to ensure Kingfisher is compliant with applicable laws and regulations relating to health, safety and welfare at work. To include group standard and policies, setting and communicating minimum requirements for banners and global functions in respect of their own standards and policies, development of templates as appropriate, oversight and support of mandatory risk assessments, permit to work, training and reporting requirements
  • Prepare GE and Board reporting on H&S objectives and KPIs, identifying trends and areas for continual improvement
  • Maintain H&S legal and risk register and group safety alerts, providing guidance on actions to eliminate hazards and reduce risks
  • Maintain a current knowledge of applicable laws and regulations in our markets of operation to enable monitoring of group wide compliance. Act as an SME on best practice and innovation to respond to technical H&S related enquiries
  • Design and operate effective and efficient systems (databases) and processes for group wide compliance monitoring and reporting, preparing regular reports to GE and Board on status and areas for improvement, and contributing to external reporting e.g. Annual Report, Responsible Business Report and any regulatory reporting.
  • Develop and foster strong working relationships through business partnering with banner, Global Function H&S representatives, legal / compliance and internal audit teams in order to facilitate sharing and implementation of good practice and minimum expectations and update H&S content into store / factory audit plans
  • Conduct investigations into high severity accidents, incidents or near misses, or where emerging trends identified, making recommendations for improvement as appropriate

What you'll bring

  • Established Health & Safety or Compliance professional in a recognised role, working for a large, matrix organisation
  • Chartered membership of IOSH or similar.
  • Proven understanding of the risk assessment processes
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal, able to communicate effectively with personnel of various levels and cultures both within banners and externally. Fluency in English is required for this role.
