What is the purpose of the role:

This position is for a qualified accountant with Group finance experience to cover a one-year maternity leave. The role involves leading the Group's year-end audit, full-year external financial reporting, and monthly Group consolidation and statutory reporting. You will collaborate closely with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Company Secretary, while also managing key relationships with Group auditors and bankers

Key Responsibilities

External Reporting:

Lead the following tasks:

  • Prepare consolidated annual Group financial statements and supporting notes under IFRS for the Annual Report and results announcements.
  • Oversee the global audit, including year-end planning and liaising with external auditors.
  • Draft papers for the audit committee.
  • Prepare statutory accounts for UK subsidiaries under UK GAAP.

Monthly Reporting:

  • Lead month-end consolidation tasks, ensuring accurate review of balance sheets and below EBITDA submissions.
  • Review and challenge balance sheet reconciliations prepared by subsidiaries to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical financial accounting support to regional finance teams.
  • Conduct internal controls reviews to ensure effective governance and risk management.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

What You Will Bring to the Role:

  • Qualified accountant with a minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience (ACA/ACCA).
  • Demonstrated experience managing external financial reporting for UK publicly quoted companies (AIM or main market).
  • Familiarity with tax planning and compliance, particularly in the UK.
  • Strong working knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP.
  • Exceptional numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in advanced spreadsheet techniques and general PC literacy.
  • In-depth understanding of consolidation principles and financial processes.
  • Experience with SAP Business Planning & Consolidation (BPC) is an advantage.
  • Strong academic background.
  • Excellent written communication skills for reporting.
  • Confidence in liaising with external advisors and senior management.
  • A proactive mindset, with the drive to continuously improve processes and embrace new challenges.
  • Ability to work under pressure, maintain attention to detail, and meet deadlines independently.
