Greenspace Operations Manager

Nottingham City Council
Closing Date: 7th September 2025
Salary: £56,730 - £60,125 (Grade K) | Permanent | Full Time

Are you ready to lead transformative change in Nottingham's parks, allotments, playgrounds, and greenspaces?

Nottingham City Council is on the lookout for an ambitious and forward-thinking Greenspace Operations Manager to take the reins of a dynamic, high-impact portfolio, including the city's allotments, playgrounds, park patrols, paddling pools, and much more. If you're passionate about improving communities through nature and thrive on turning bold ideas into action, this could be your next great move.

What You'll Be Doing

As the Greenspace Operations Manager, you'll be leading a talented and multi-skilled team across city-wide greenspace services, delivering frontline excellence and long-term improvement strategies in line with our vision for a Greener, Healthier, Happier Nottingham.

You'll:

  • Oversee major greenspace operations including allotments (Association, City and St Ann's), playground inspections and repairs, patrol park services and paddling pools.

You're a natural leader with a strong background in greenspace or public realm operations. You're confident managing people, budgets, and partnership, but you're also just as comfortable walking the ground, solving problem on the go, and celebrating with volunteers at a community planting day.

You'll bring:

  • Experience managing parks, playgrounds, or allotments at a strategic or operational level.
  • Skills in contract negotiation, capital project delivery, and community engagement.
  • A creative, solution-focused mindset with a drive for innovation and service improvement.
  • Strong leadership and team development abilities, you'll mentor, motivate, and make things happen.
  • Passion for sustainability, biodiversity, and making greenspaces accessible and meaningful for all.

What you'll gain

  • A senior service strategic role with citywide impact
  • A chance to help shape a greener and more inclusive Nottingham
  • A role with visible impact in your local community
  • Supportive colleagues and opportunities for professional development
  • Flexible working and employee wellbeing support
  • Generous local government pension and holiday scheme
