We're looking for a strategic leader to start in January 2026 to head up our Governor Services North team, supporting schools across Preston, the Fylde Coast and Lancaster. Are you ready to lead a service that empowers school governance and drives educational improvement? We're seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to manage and develop our Governor Services North team.
The North area spans from Preston to the Fylde Coast and across to Lancaster, requiring flexibility to travel to any school within the region. While based locally, the postholder will regularly meet with other Area Team Managers and the wider Education Improvement team at County Hall, Preston. You'll work closely with other Governor Services Managers and other key services including Legal, HR, Admissions, and School Improvement to ensure joined-up, high-quality support for schools.
As Area Team Manager, you will lead a team of Governing Body Advisers, ensuring the delivery of expert support to Governing Bodies. Your work will directly impact the effectiveness of school leadership and pupil outcomes.
You'll be responsible for:
- Line management of a dedicated team, setting objectives and monitoring performance.
- Ensuring legal and contractual compliance, budget control, and service quality.
- Providing expert advice and clerking support for a range of governance meetings.
- Leading audits of Governing Body effectiveness and developing action plans.
- Driving strategic service development.
You'll bring:
- A relevant degree or equivalent experience.
- Proven leadership in governance or education support services.
- Strong knowledge of school governance legislation and procedures.
- Excellent communication, organisational and digital skills.
- The ability to lead with integrity, empathy and strategic vision.
