Level 4 Associate Director - Permanent
This is a rare, exciting and varied role within the System of Quality Management (SQM) Team which sits within the firm's Risk Management function. As an Associate Director, you will work across the entire firm interacting with senior stakeholders and be supported by leaders who have a strong belief in professional skills development. From day one, you will build broader experiences in a fast paced and dynamic team and organisation.

This role has a primary focus on leading and executing the UK firm's, and UK&I Region's, ISQM1 Governance stream, although there will be a requirement to work closely with the monitoring and operations equivalent SQM leads for input into the SQM governance forums, allowing a holistic SQM experience. Governance is a critical element of our ISQM1 work and is highly visible to senior and influential stakeholders through our governance forums.

The Governance lead's primary role will be to schedule, manage and coordinate the SQM governance forums, proactively interacting with senior stakeholders at regular intervals. The Governance lead will be required to draft high quality governance packs and facilitate the effective and efficient operation of each SQM Committee meeting. The role also encapsulates other, important aspects such as, where relevant, engagement with global SQM leads, and working closely with the wider professional practice and risk management functions.

Key aspects of the role:

  • Staying abreast of EY Global SQM Policy
  • Scheduling of governance forums for SQM UK and UKI Region
  • When there is need, facilitating SQM Governance reviews, considering composition to allow for the effective and efficient execution of all meetings.
  • Determining the relevant topics for discussion by SQM governance committee (in line with SQM priorities, the SQM governance approach and ToRs).
  • Drafting and distributing high quality governance packs and material in good time ahead of governance meetings
  • Analyzing meeting actions and ensuring timely completion of these actions.

SQM Communications and presentations to other governance bodies:

  • Lead the ISQM1 input to the Transparency Report
  • Liaise with representatives from other governance bodies (e.g. Audit Board, LLP Board, UK Country Committee) to create and provide relevant material (which may be presented by other members of the SQM team)
  • Be the SQM contact point for SQM initiatives such as quality surveys. Advise on the approach and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Manage the schedule for information requests from external bodies (e.g. FRC) and organise internal review sessions for draft versions of responses. Advise others who are drafting responses and respond to queries that relate to remit of the role.

SQM Control operator

  • Own the SQM processes and controls relating to Service Providers and Network resources and execute the required process.
  • Although not the primary focus on the role, as an Associate Director, the role may include the overseeing of certain governance aspects of higher risk, high leadership exposure controls.

Experience and attributes

We are looking for an individual who has:

  • Exceptional organisation and communication (verbal and aural) skills
  • Experience of productive working with senior stakeholders
  • A proven ability to think ahead, anticipate issues and can resolve these proactively
  • Design related capabilities (typically in Microsoft PowerPoint and Word) and can produce the outline for high quality committee packs
  • Experience in advising content providers on how to convey messages succinctly and exceed committee member/stakeholder expectations
  • Experience in governance related duties
  • An ability to learn and apply knowledge in order to advise colleagues and senior stakeholders.
  • As you will be working across the UK and UK&I region you will learn a remarkable amount about the firm. This may enable long term career progression and the establishment of a valuable EY network.
