The Global Press Officer is a key member of the communications team executing the broader PR and communications strategy. This role also supports the management of Diageo global press office, demonstrating best-in-class media relations and delivering dedicated corporate events to build trust and respect in Diageo.

The Global Brand and Communications strategy requires the global team to engage, communicate, protect and enhance Diageo's reputation in this connected, digital world.

The individual will need to work collaboratively, cross-functionally and move effortlessly between Above Market and Market teams to enhance our brand and protect our reputation.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Required to efficiently and effectively activate content through a paid, earned and owned channel mix.
  • Accountable to the Corporate PR Director to effectively support the operation of world class press office and stakeholder events.
  • Will be required to deliver ongoing strands of activity/stories set out within the communications plan.
  • Will be required to be a PR counsel to non-corporate relations professionals within the business on specific pieces of work as well as manage external agencies on specific projects where appropriate.
  • Media handler with a network of relationships and the ability to build and nurture more.

Top Accountabilities:

The Global Press Officer will be responsible for delivering key components of the corporate communications strategy and world class media relations on behalf of the global plc. Key accountabilities to include:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day running of the Global press office. Act as the first point of call for incoming press queries and keep networked into the business to ensure quick response of media enquiries. Supporting Diageo's financial results.
  • Proactively generating coverage for Diageo's programmes and campaigns within the Global and GB business media with particular focus on driving corporate communications coverage for Diageo's Inclusion and Diversity agenda, its Sustainability programmes and Diageo's Luxury business.
  • Owns and manages distribution of content to the Global Drinks Trade.
  • Supports the successful delivery of two Executive level set-piece media stakeholder events.
  • Co-generating content for Diageo's corporate digital channels (@DiageoGB and @Diageo_News).

Experience:

Experience in Public Relations, communications or media, with experience of handling the media.

Strong, current understanding of the media and communications environment and proven media relationships.

Strong organisational skills, excellent writing and interpersonal skills.

Experience of managing agencies to deliver successfully.

Strong drive, resilience and determination.

Ability to interact with senior management with credibility.

A self-starter, able to take on a task with little direction and complete it successfully.
