We have an exciting opportunity for a Global Internal Communications Manager to join our growing Marketing department based in the A&O Shearman Belfast office.
The Global Internal Communications Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering the internal communications strategy for A&O Shearman, supporting the firm's ongoing engagement, integration and transformation initiatives. This individual will act as a trusted advisor to the Change and Transformation team, ensuring that communications are clear, engaging, and aligned with the firm's strategic objectives. The role requires a dynamic communicator who can operate effectively across a complex, global organization, driving engagement, fostering a sense of community, and championing best practices in internal communications.
What You Will Do
- Strategic business partnering: Serve as the internal communications business partner to the Change and Transformation team, providing expert counsel on communication strategies for integration and change programs. Proactively identify communication needs and opportunities, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Change communications leadership: Develop and implement comprehensive change communication strategies and plans for various transformation initiatives. Collaborate with the regional change communications network to ensure consistent messaging and effective local adaptation.
- Channel management: Oversee the management and continuous improvement of central, global communication channels, including the intranet, firmwide emails, global newsletter, digital screens, and other digital platforms. Develop and execute a content strategy that drives engagement with the firm's vision, values, and client successes. Lead the editorial process, including copywriting, editing, and content creation as needed.
- Digital engagement and innovation: Lead the global rollout and adoption of Viva Engage, owning the change management and engagement plan. Define success metrics, monitor adoption, and drive continuous improvement based on feedback and analytics.
- Flagship communications delivery: Take ownership of the planning, content development, and delivery of the monthly Senior Partner Podcast, ensuring high-quality production and alignment with strategic messaging.
- AI adoption and best practice: Act as the internal communications lead for AI adoption within the function and the broader communications team. Identify and implement AI-driven solutions to enhance communication effectiveness and efficiency and contribute to the wider AI adoption strategy across Marketing, BD, and Communications.
- Governance and best practice: Maintain and update the internal communications playbook, ensuring all policies, guidelines, and best practices are current and accessible to global colleagues. Promote adherence to standards and drive continuous improvement.
- Collaboration and relationship building: Build and nurture strong relationships with communications colleagues across the global network. Facilitate knowledge sharing, collaboration, and the dissemination of best practices to ensure the success of internal communications initiatives.
- Strategic project support: Work closely with the Global Internal Communications Lead and Senior Internal Communications Manager - Global Projects to support and deliver on other high-impact strategic communications projects as required.
- Continuous learning: Stay abreast of the latest trends, tools, and best practices in internal communications, change management, and digital engagement. Proactively bring new ideas and innovations to the team.
What You Will Have
- Proven track record of designing and delivering impactful internal and change communications within large, complex, and international organizations.
- Demonstrated ability to advise, influence, and build credibility with senior stakeholders, acting as a subject matter expert in internal and change communications.
- Exceptional integrity, with the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple complex projects, prioritize effectively, and deliver under tight deadlines.

- Strong experience managing and optimizing multichannel communication platforms, including digital and social tools.

- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, global environment, and adept at navigating cultural differences.
