The Opportunity:

We are seeking a manager to join our busy UK-inbound immigration team. The Global Immigration team within EY's People Advisory Services practice is the largest single-brand provider of immigration services, managing a range of business immigration services for multinational clients. These services typically focus on compliance and legal issues, including coordinating and filing work and visa applications, subsequent work permit/visa extensions, and passport/nationality issues.

Your Key Responsibilities:

As a member of the client service team, your role will be to supervise and manage engagements and related activities under the direction of partners and directors, providing quality professional services to our clients.

People Management:

  • Supervise, participate, and contribute toward achieving engagement goals by communicating effectively with team members and providing timely, constructive feedback and performance reviews.
  • Contribute to managing retention rates.
  • Provide counselling support to junior team members in accordance with the firm's performance management approach.
  • Support or serve as the program leader in managing the firm's professional development seminars and courses.
  • Support and supervise practice-wide activities such as recruiting, learning, and other people initiatives.

Quality & Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with EY risk management policies and procedures and manage engagement administration.
  • Ensure accurate and timely time bookings, achieve chargeable hours targets, and effectively manage engagement financials, cash collection, and partner review of significant invoices.
  • Ensure timely invoice production.

Markets:

  • Identify business opportunities and manage client pursuits.
  • Leverage external knowledge sources to connect client issues and business factors. Share best practices, thought leadership, and global offerings with clients.
  • Understand industry and client business issues and challenges that drive opportunities. Support the development of account planning strategies with business development teams and contribute to thought leadership.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with EY team members, individuals in other departments, client peers, and the community.
  • Build relationships within the firm and externally with clients by sharing insights on best practices, the competitive landscape, and industry standards in the immigration community.

Client:

  • Develop and manage work plans for client teams, aligned with engagement scope, including objectives, timelines, milestones, priorities, team member responsibilities, work products, and engagement economics. Coach and develop team members and provide guidance for further development needs.
  • Apply ETC GI project management standards and tools to projects, meeting client and team expectations.
  • Deliver high-quality client service by taking responsibility for the quality of the work product of junior team members and providing guidance, expertise, and review where appropriate.
  • Work towards optimal outcomes for relevant stakeholders.
  • Review documents prepared by junior team members for submission to immigration authorities and clients.
  • Review and interpret information to deliver practical conclusions and recommendations to clients.
  • Serve as a trusted business advisor for clients and EY to immigration authorities and government officials.
  • Ensure timely responses from the team on day-to-day client liaison and provide appropriate responses to client questions as necessary.
  • Manage the team's responsibility for maintaining applicants' status and information in our technology tracking system.

About You:

  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience with relevant business immigration experience, specifically within Tier 2.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Good stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan, prioritize, meet deadlines, monitor budgets, and manage multiple small-scale projects.
  • Strong IT skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), BIT, and local visa preparation software.
  • Excellent attention to detail with sound business judgment.
  • Client-driven with strategic and commercial awareness.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Experience managing a team of junior members and leading, coaching, and sustaining teams while working as an enthusiastic team member.
  • Thorough understanding of immigration concepts and issues, pro-actively researching current immigration developments and creatively applying immigration and HR knowledge to client situations. Review and approve basic immigration advisory work.
