JOB TITLE: Global Health & Safety Compliance Manager
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full Time Permanent
REPORTS TO: Director Supply Chain and Global Warehousing

JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Global Health and Safety Compliance Manager to oversee and manage all aspects of health and safety compliance across our international operations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of global health and safety regulations, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to implement and monitor compliance programs effectively.

OVERVIEW OF DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and Implement Compliance Strategies: Design, implement, and maintain global health and safety compliance strategies in line with international regulations and best practices.
  • Policy Development: Create, update, and communicate health and safety policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure adherence across all locations.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of evolving health and safety regulations worldwide and ensure the organisation's compliance with all relevant laws, standards, and certifications.
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate potential health and safety hazards in diverse work environments.
  • Training and Education: Coordinate and provide training programs to employees and stakeholders on health and safety protocols, emergency procedures, and risk prevention.
  • Audit and Monitoring: Implement auditing processes to evaluate compliance levels across global sites and initiate corrective actions where necessary.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote a culture of safety, and act as a focal point for health and safety-related communication and inquiries.
  • Incident Response: Develop and implement incident response protocols, ensuring timely and effective management of health and safety incidents.
  • Reporting: Generate regular reports on health and safety performance metrics, compliance status, and recommendations for improvement to senior management.
  • Network: Establish database of H&S advisors in each country of operation and ensure full legislative compliance in each jurisdiction.
  • Ergonomics: Manage the office area H&S environment and conduct regular and annual reviews on areas such as DSE assessments etc.
  • H&S Committee: Elect and set up an internal H&S committee in line with legislation.
  • Certifications: Ensure retention of ISO 9001/14001 and BSI certifications
  • Systems: Manage sites Quality Management System and ensure this is updated and reviewed on a regular basis

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field; relevant certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, BSC) are advantageous.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in a global health and safety compliance role at senior level, preferably within a multinational corporation or global setting.
  • Strong knowledge of international health and safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in risk assessment, incident investigation, and the development of effective health and safety programs.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to analyse data and generate actionable insights.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a diverse and dynamic environment.
  • Experience working in a large-scale distribution environment.
  • Ability to conduct site safety audits and ensure compliance with ISO/BSI standards.
  • Fluent in English written and verbal.
  • Have the ability to travel to other sites if necessary.
  • The ideal candidate would be location within the UK, Poland, Spain, Italy, and Belgium.
