As a Senior Associate in EMEA Sanctions Compliance, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our firm adheres to global sanctions processes. As a Senior Associate in the EMEA Sanctions Compliance team, you will be at the forefront of assessing and mitigating sanctions risks. You will work independently and collaboratively to ensure compliance with HMT, EU, OFAC, and other EMEA sanctions programs. Your role is vital in maintaining our firm's reputation and ensuring a zero-tolerance environment for sanctions breaches.

Job Responsibilities

  • Review and assess sanctions risks in client due diligence and significant transactions.
  • Evaluate client sanctions-related events, including blocked or rejected transactions and enforcement actions.
  • Support escalations to internal senior committees and present sanctions risks effectively.
  • Escalate significant sanctions risks to management and relevant compliance officers.
  • Maintain and develop knowledge of sanctions programs to provide guidance to colleagues.
  • Build strong relationships with Global Sanctions Compliance colleagues.
  • Adhere to controls and procedures to prevent sanctions breaches.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Demonstrated skills in risk assessment and decision-making regarding sanctions.
  • Relevant experience in compliance activities, particularly AML/Sanctions.
  • Knowledge of Investment & Corporate Banking, Payments, and Correspondent Banking.
  • Strong presentation and organizational skills; ability to work independently under pressure.
  • Analytical mindset with problem management skills and clear communication.
  • Quality-focused work ethic with a strong controls mindset.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent academic/work achievement.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Experience in a similar role within a financial institution.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and changes in the EMEA region.
  • Ability to engage with senior stakeholders and influence decision-making.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships across teams.
