About the Role
In this pivotal role as the Global Executive Director of Medical Affairs, you will shape and execute the strategic vision for Shionogi's anti-infective portfolio. This role provides essential medical leadership and strategic direction to ensure the successful development, launch, and lifecycle management of our anti-infective products. Although this is a non-management position, you will drive the global agenda and collaborate closely with our headquarters in Japan and regional medical affairs teams.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and executing global medical affairs strategies aligned with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and medical/scientific standards.
- Providing leadership and guidance to the medical affairs teams at a global and regional level, through developing and executing global medical affairs strategies and fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
- Cultivating and maintaining relationships with key opinion leaders, academic institutions, medical societies, and other stakeholders with global influence.
- Providing medical oversight for global data generation programs, including protocol design, investigator recruitment, and interpretation of study results.
- Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams at a global, regional, and local level to integrate medical insights into strategic decision-making.
- Managing the medical affairs budget effectively, ensuring optimal allocation of resources to support strategic priorities and deliverables.
What We Are Looking For
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic individual with:
- Qualified Medical Doctor (MD)
- Regional and ideally global portfolio/product medical affairs leadership roles within the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry.
- Proven track record of developing and executing global medical affairs strategies for successful product launches and lifecycle management.
- Ability to navigate complex regulatory environments and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines.
- Strategic mindset, with the ability to think critically and develop innovative solutions to medical affairs challenges.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in a matrixed, cross-functional environment.
- Strong business acumen to understand global market trends, optimize resources strategically, and ensure financial success on a global scale.
