In the Global Business Services (GBS) consulting team we partner with our clients to innovate, realise business outcomes and secure value for the enterprise. We are a team of go-getters, with extensive consulting and industry experience. We work with big brands and well-known clients across Corporates, Private Equity, Infrastructure, Government and Healthcare and Financial Services; and along with our colleagues across the KPMG offerings we deliver sustainable, transformative and technology enabled solutions for our clients.

The Role

As a member of the GBS leadership team, you will be focused on supporting the build out of market leading GBS solutions including next generation thinking, solutions, technology and BPO advisory for our clients.

Successful candidates should have prior experience in a leading consulting practice, as well as in-depth knowledge and delivery experience of one but ideally two-three of the GBS proposition areas.

Your responsibilities as a client facing director will include:

Engagement delivery

  • Leading cross-functional programmes and projects of a large size and complexity, including the strategic shaping, planning, managing and executing the delivery of engagements, overseeing the writing of client reports and the review and quality assurance of work products

Risk management

  • Identifying and managing risks, taking accountability for managing engagement assurance, engagement commercials, and ensuring the Firm's risk management frameworks are implemented appropriately and effectively

People development

  • Leading large teams and identifying individual team member development needs; accelerating their career growth with a particular emphasis on managing, mentoring, coaching and skills transfer
  • Taking on performance management responsibilities, contributing to annual talent reviews and supporting career progression
  • Acting as a mentor to colleagues within the team and in the wider firm, taking responsibility for cultural improvement and living the KPMG values

Business Development

  • Leading the establishment and development of relationships both internally within KPMG and externally with clients, as well as leading business development activity to secure future programmes of work
  • Originating opportunities for the firm through existing and growing relationships, as well as developing, contributing to and presenting proposals. Expanding existing engagements to address client challenges or business areas beyond the initial scope
  • Developing market leading materials, leading KPMG's presence at events, and creating publications for our website on areas of specific expertise

Practice Development

  • Leading the design and creation of KPMG specific GBS propositions, assets and intellectual property
  • Supporting partners with internal operational responsibilities for the team such as revenue planning, resourcing, recruitment, and wider team development

The Person

Successful candidates must:

  • Have previous consulting experience in a Global Business Services practice of a leading professional services firm
  • Be an excellent people manager who can lead large teams and develop/coach others, including peers
  • Have a proven ability and track record of winning and leading end-to-end multi-functional transformation programmes rooted in GBS operations and the ability to work with a variety of stakeholders to achieve transformation and business outcomes
  • Have experience managing teams to deliver to deadlines and required quality standards including experience developing, coaching and mentoring team members
  • Be able to demonstrate a deep understanding of the GBS operating model including systems, data, processes, controls and governance

Successful candidates should:

  • Have an ability to articulate trends in GBS and the challenges facing GBS organisations across several industry areas
  • Have a deep knowledge and understanding of end-to-end GBS processes and their interdependencies to deliver a seamless experience to customers
  • Be an excellent communicator with the personal skills to build strong and lasting internal and client relationships; and the ability to deliver clear, concise, focused messages to senior business leadership or clients
  • Own relationships with a diverse stakeholder group, including C-suite level executives and board members of large, global, listed entities
  • Be an active listener and a strong team player
  • Have extensive experience of negotiating fee and programme scope with clients
  • Have flexibility to travel
  • Holding an accountancy qualification (ACA/ACCA/ICAS/CIMA or equivalent experience) would be preferable
