What can you expect from this role?

You will join our Cognizant's geosolutions team and will lead the design and implementation of our customers GIS infrastructure and solutions. Working closely with a range of stakeholders, you will define the GIS strategy, develop the architectural standards and you will ensure that GIS solutions align with organizational goals.

What will you be doing?

Your responsibilities include the below - not are not restricted to it:

• Lead the design and architecture of GIS systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define GIS requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Develop and maintain GIS architecture documentation, including system diagrams, data flow models, and design standards.
• Evaluate and recommend GIS technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance the organization's GIS capabilities.
• Oversee the integration of GIS solutions with other enterprise systems and databases, ensuring seamless data flow and interoperability.
• Provide guidance on best practices for data management, spatial analysis, and application development within the GIS environment.
• Monitor and assess the performance of GIS systems, implementing improvements and optimizations as needed.
• Manage GIS projects, including planning, resource allocation, and stakeholder communication, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
• Mentor and support GIS staff, providing technical leadership and fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
• Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in GIS architecture and system design.

What skills and experience do you need to be considered for this opportunity?

• Coming from a GIS developer background, you will demonstrate a solid experience in GIS architecture, design, and implementation, with a focus on enterprise-level GIS solutions.
• You will have strong proficiency in GIS software and technologies, including ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise Suite, Open-Source Web GIS tools like GeoServer, OpenLayers, Leaflet etc., QGIS, and related tools.
• You will demonstrate experience with cloud-based GIS platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS and ArcGIS Online,) and enterprise GIS solutions.
• You have a good understanding of database management systems (e.g., PostgreSQL / PostGIS, SQL Server or Oracle Spatial) and data modeling.
• Knowledge of web services and APIs, including REST and SOAP, for integrating GIS with other applications.
• Experience of AI/ML usage in GIS Applications
