The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Survey Delivery Manager this role will be accountable for leading and managing the geoscience team to ensure the successful delivery of projects.

A key role within the survey department, the Geoscience Reporting Manager is responsible for overseeing the quality of geophysical data, associated deliverables, and final interpretive reports.

As the Geoscience Reporting Manager, you will lead and manage a highly skilled team of onshore and offshore geophysicists to deliver the highest quality deliverables throughout the project lifecycle from the tendering and planning stages, during offshore operations, interpretation through to final report delivery.

You will have overall responsibility over the output of your team, you will lead on quality control and quality assurance, and you will ensure your team has the resources required to deliver according to project schedules and budgets.

Main Responsibilities

  • Developing, implementing & executing strategy; geophysical data interpretation and reporting.
  • Document & implement a geophysical data QA/QC, interpretation and reporting strategy, aligned to the objectives of the business, to ensure the achievement of financial, operational & technological targets.
  • Effectively communicate the strategy to all relevant stakeholders ensuring collective effort & attention is put towards to achievement of strategic objectives, making changes where necessary to achieve results.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate where necessary any risks/threats to the achievement of strategic objectives, working with others as necessary to highlight, manage & overcome these.
  • Assist in tendering activities as and when required by providing input on geoscience tender activities within the requisite timeframes.
  • Lead & manage the geoscience team to produce high quality data deliverables and reports.
  • Ensure that the scope of all projects is delivered safely whilst meeting all financial and schedule-related targets.
  • Act as the escalation point for any project-related incidents/issues ensuring these are resolved in the most effective & efficient way.
  • Act as the point of contact for any geophysical-related data and reporting client issues as agreed with the PM.
  • Deploy offshore as/when required to adequately manage survey-related issues/incidents.
  • Be accountable for all geoscience-related processes & procedures ensuring a best practice approach to everything we do.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives both within the survey team & the broader business to help create a culture of 'excellence' & drive efficiencies.
  • Supporting the offshore data backup and ship to shore process so that your team receive the data they need for processing and interpretation.
  • Responsible for overseeing that all geophysical data is processed, interpreted, and reported in line with procedures and that results are presented in a professional, accurate and concise manner.
  • Produce insightful reports for various audiences within the business at regular intervals

You should apply if you have:

  • B.Sc./M.Sc. in Marine Geophysics / Marine Geology or equivalent
  • Programme or project management qualification (desirable).
  • Significant experience in the acquisition, interpretation and reporting of geophysical data (side scan sonar, sub-bottom profiler, magnetometer, MCUHRS data) using industry standard software (SonarWiz, Kingdom, Oasis Montaj, RadEx Pro).
  • Experience in the supervision and line management of geophysicists.
  • Technical understanding of survey technology, systems, equipment & software.
  • Advanced MS Office skills - particularly Excel, Project & SharePoint.
  • Experience working with integrated management systems (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001).
  • Dedication to quality control and assurance.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build & develop a team
