Our centre for trauma services and obstetrics is at Conquest Hospital, while our centre for urology and stroke services is at Eastbourne DGH. At Bexhill Hospital we offer a range of outpatient, day surgery, rehabilitation and intermediate care services. At Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital we offer outpatients, rehabilitation and intermediate services. At Uckfield Community Hospital we provide day surgery and outpatient care.

In the community, we deliver services that focus on people with long term conditions living well outside hospital, through our integrated locality teams working with district and community nursing teams. Community members of staff also provide care to patients in their homes and from a number of clinics, health centres and GP surgeries.

Job overview

We are looking for an exceptional candidate to join our leadership team within Women & Children's Division at East Sussex Healthcare. This General Manager post will lead our Service Management Team and work across all our services as a truly diverse role. We are a Division with both acute and community services and we are looking for an outstanding leader to take us forward in our journey of continual improvement.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a skilled and accomplished individual with the ability to drive our vision for further improvement. You will need excellent influencing and negotiation skills, a proven track record of working closely with clinical and system colleagues with the experience of delivering to standards and deadlines. You will be an expert in RTT and access for patients as well as a background in service improvement and redesign as we are ever changing and improving. There is a close focus on finances and this will form a key part of the role so a proven track record in financial improvement will be necessary.

You will also be able to prioritise, use your own initiative, thrive under pressure and manage difficult situations effectively. This role will require travel across East Sussex - hot site is Conquest and therefore this will be the base and majority of time expected to be there.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Relevant Masters degree level qualification or proven equivalent knowledge acquired through extensive experience.
  • Evidence of substantial continuing professional and personal development, including professional management training, strategic planning and performance, people management, budget management and service development.

Desirable criteria

  • NHS or Healthcare General Manager Experience with a focus on performance and delivery.
  • Programme and/or project management qualification.

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Extensive broad experience of working within NHS or other acute, complex healthcare organisation in senior operational managerial roles, to include managing large budgets, major staffing groups and service delivery across a range of services.
  • Minimum 3 years Service Management experience within Secondary Care

Desirable criteria

  • Experience in doctors job planning and rota organisation.
  • Experience in different Digital solutions across the NHS.

Skills

Essential criteria

  • Knowledge of developments in the NHS with a specific understanding of the service provided.
  • Knowledge of performance targets (particularly within Secondary Care ), access and modernisation service developments and their impact on service delivery within the NHS.
