Role Summary

The General Manager is a senior leadership role ensuring high standards of leadership and consistent, optimal performance across the breadth of the portfolio. The post holder will hold a Trust wide programme of work across two acute sites and will deputise for the Associate Director where necessary.

The post holder will be expected to act independently, taking timely and key decisions to ensure the operational delivery of the portfolio, leading change and improvement by supporting and influencing clinical, operational and corporate teams.

The Transformation Team at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an exceptional senior operational manager to lead a 12 month programme of improvement and transformation in our community theatre services. Ideally with experience of delivering surgical services, you will have a thorough understanding of the complexities of surgical pathways, and a desire to work closely with our clinical and operational teams to improve the pathways and care we provide to patients. You will play a key role in developing a longer term strategy for the future of theatre provision in our community sites, maximising the delivery of care closer to patients homes whilst ensuring clinical excellence and positive patient experience.

The postholder will be expected to support colleagues within Transformation and across the Trust, and to provide expert guidance and development to the immediate team and wider organisation. You will be part of a diverse team of project managers and service change experts, and will be expected to work autonomously in leading a defined portfolio of trust-wide projects.

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week

Pay - The salary advertised for this position reflects the Agenda for Change 2024-5 rates, inclusive of a 5.5% pay award implemented from October 2024. If you join before this date, the pay award will be backdated to April 2024 or your start date, whichever is later. Until then, remuneration will be based on the 2023-4 pay bandings(Pay scales for 2023/24 | NHS Employers).

This is a fixed term contract for 12 months. For current NHS employees this post could be a secondment opportunity.
