The UK Employee Relations team are responsible for supporting the firm across a broad spectrum of ER activities including complex case management, organisational change, and people policy development.
This is a senior Leadership role within the ER team, with accountability for leading a team and proactively driving ER transformational change, innovation, and risk based commercial solutions. You will work closely with other functional leaders in delivery of strategic ER support reporting to the Head of Employee Relations in the UK.

As Employee Relations (ER) transformation and evolution continue, you will be instrumental in driving positive change, particularly in complex case management and organisational change initiatives. Operating strategically, you will deliver on the transformation agenda, embedding the new operating model and ER service evolution, and ensuring continuous service improvement. You will also serve as a point of escalation for service delivery and resolution.
High level role scope
- Leadership of a team of Employee Relations specialists
- Being the point of escalation on high risk and complex cases
- Strategic leadership of organisational change activity (restructuring, engagement, TUPE and M&A) from an ER perspective, ensuring programmes are resourced appropriately and delivered effectively and efficiently within agreed timeframes
- Monitor and stay informed of internal strategic changes and external best practice, legislative and regulatory requirements and ensure the Employee Relations service remains reflective, compliant, and aligned
- Ensure service delivery standards and measurement against SLAs/KPIs are met within the ER function and with third party vendors
- Manage BAU relationships with external vendors, internal customers and other stakeholders and provides a point of escalation for any service issues that arise
- Brings a transformation/CSI mindset to both the ER team and the wider HR function to ensure our processes are market leading and embrace technology and automation
- Work effectively within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution; and demonstrates a willingness to support and cover for other ERLT members as required to provide a seamless service to the business.
Detailed role scope
- Leading a diverse portfolio of work across the full ER spectrum at any one time, with competing deadlines and priorities
- Leading and supporting a team to ensure the effective and timely resolution of ER matters, including complex casework and organisational change, ensuring the team are working as credible, trusted and commercially astute SMEs
- Working with stakeholders to develop, shape and design organisational change and engagement programmes including restructure, TUPE in and out, changes to T&Cs
- Pro-actively engaging HR and business stakeholders to provide commercial, risk-based people solutions aligned to the Firm's goals and shared values. Upskill leaders and drive self-service whilst cultivating strong and meaningful relationships with leadership teams both within and outside of HR.
- Embedding the strategic direction for the team and ensures that all performance management measures are well-defined, comprehensible, and achievable
- Accountability for the operational management of the ServiceNow case management system, streamlining case management practices and ensuring the technology is being used for maximum effect
- Accountability for case management and organisational change reporting, ensuring the data is presented visually and informatively with thematic analysis, and is delivered according to pre-agreed reporting cycles. Provides recommendations for proactive ER interventions to address recurring issues and themes
- As a member of the ERLT, carrying out People Leader activities including recruitment, coaching and development and performance management of the Employee Relations team members
- Coaching and development of HR colleagues to maximize their confidence, capability, and consistency of approach in respect of all sensitive ER matters
- Accountability for ongoing service improvement; facilitating regular case reviews and reviews of organisational change programmes, ensuring quality assurance, recommendations and learnings are communicated, implemented, and monitored as appropriate
- Providing assurance on the robust management of complex ER projects, cases and organisational change programmes to the Head of ER, Director of People & Operational Effectiveness and Partner for HR, providing updates and briefings on the progress of all complex ER cases, claims, settlements
- Leading on high risk and complex cases as required
- Supporting the development of ER policies and procedures
- Lead other ad hoc ER projects as required.
Connect to your skills and professional experience
- Comprehensive understanding of UK employment legislation and extensive experience delivering activity across the spectrum of ER.
- Demonstrable experience of leading, managing and developing a team of multi-disciplinary ER specialists
- Extensive experience of complex case management experience including the management of ACAS early conciliation and Employment Tribunal claims and designing, leading, and overseeing complex organisational change programmes
- Experience of using case management systems such as ServiceNow
- Ability to adopt a continuous improvement approach to ensure the service continues to positively develop and evolve
- Has a strong service delivery mindset and experience of measuring performance against SLA's, KPI's
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced challenging environment, managing multiple stakeholders and complex / competing priorities and deadlines
- Credible communicator with strong influencing and stakeholder management skills
- Strong relationship builder with the ability to influence and inspire using data, knowledge, and expertise across all stakeholder groups
- Experience of case management solutions and utilising technology to streamline and optimize processes
- Data led approach with a high level of analytical skills
