General Accounting Director, Shared Services

Summary

The role reports to the Head of Shared Services and manages team through our Business Process Outsourcer and captive teams. Our current scope is 12 main operating companies Europe plus 1 holding company. The Process Director will drive transformation to achieve both effectiveness improvements and efficiency savings.

Responsibilities

  1. Service Excellence :
    • Leadership and Management: Lead and manage the accounting team, ensuring high performance, engagement, and development of team members.
    • Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain robust quality assurance processes to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data and reports.
    • Performance Metrics: Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting services.
    • Customer Focus: Foster a customer-centric culture within the shared services team, ensuring prompt and effective responses to internal and external client inquiries.
    • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, standards, and internal policies.
  2. Service Transition :
    • Transition Planning: Develop comprehensive transition plans for integrating new processes or systems into the shared services model.
    • Change Management: Lead change management initiatives to facilitate smooth transitions, including communication, training, and support for impacted stakeholders.
    • Risk Mitigation: Identify and mitigate risks associated with service transitions, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
    • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure alignment and support for transition initiatives.
  3. Transformation Initiatives :
    • Process Improvement: Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.
    • Technology Integration: Leverage technology to drive innovation and transformation within accounting processes, including automation and digitization efforts.
    • Strategic Planning: Develop and execute strategic plans to transform shared services into a world-class operation.
    • Benchmarking: Conduct benchmarking studies to identify best practices and implement them within the organization.
  4. BPO Management :
    • Vendor Management: Manage relationships with BPO providers, ensuring service levels are met and contractual obligations are fulfilled.
    • Outsourcing Strategy: Develop and execute outsourcing strategies that align with the organization's goals and objectives.
    • Cost Management: Monitor and control costs associated with BPO services, ensuring value for money.
    • Performance Monitoring: Establish and monitor performance metrics for BPO partners, ensuring high-quality service delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in accounts receivable or related financial functions, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience in a shared services environment, with a strong emphasis on process improvement and service excellence.
  • Demonstrated success in managing service transitions and driving large-scale transformations.
  • Expertise in working with BPO providers and managing outsourced financial processes.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems; experience with automation tools is a plus.
