Salary: Starting Salary is £40,777 (Level one) rising to £44,075 per annum (pro rata for part-time)

About the Role
The Gas Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring all gas-related activities across the Local Authority are delivered safely, legally, and in full compliance with current regulations and industry standards. This role leads a small team of Gas Engineers, providing day-to-day management, technical guidance, and performance oversight to ensure high-quality delivery of gas works and mechanical services.
The position is strongly IT-focused and primarily office-based, overseeing compliance records, asset information, certification, audit data, and maintenance planning through digital systems. The manager coordinates planned and reactive gas and mechanical works, reviews technical documentation, conducts compliance checks, and ensures all work is completed in line with safety requirements and operational procedures.
Key responsibilities include managing team workload, monitoring statutory compliance, maintaining Gas Safe documentation, supporting audits, and ensuring robust reporting and record-keeping. The role requires strong organisational skills, clear communication, technical understanding of gas and mechanical services, and a proactive approach to maintaining a safe and compliant operation.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
• Qualifications in Commercial or Domestic Gas ACS
• Experience in Managing or supporting Gas Safe registration, Conducting technical gas audits and site inspections, Overseeing contractors and internal engineers, Ensuring gas works meet legal and specification standards, Driving improvements from audit results and compliance data
• essential knowledge in Gas Safety Legislation (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998, Gas Safe Register Requirements, Approved Codes of Practice (ACOP)
• essential skills and competencies for the roll include Technical Knowledge, Compliance & Audit Skills, Leadership & Management, Problem-Solving & Decision-Making, Communication & Interpersonal Skills, Organisational & Planning Skills, Digital & Data Competency.
- A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.
