We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP Wymott, working as a Functional Skills Curriculum Manager. This role is offered on a FTC (12 months), full-time basis, working 37 hours per week.

Site Information

HMP Wymott is a Category C Mens prison based near Leyland, Lancashire. The team's aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe and where causes of prison stress are minimised. The prison's mission is to provide a secure, safe, and rehabilitative environment that encourages positive change and prepares inmates for a successful reintegration into society.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need to:

  • Hold a teaching qualification - minimum Cert Ed or PGCE
  • Hold a degree or equivalent (including equivalent life / career experience)
  • Hold at least a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
  • Hold a TAQA Internal Verifier Award / V1 or equivalent (desirable)
  • Hold a Level 4 or equivalent subject specialism or vocational qualification (desirable)
  • To be able to implement continuous quality assurance procedures
  • Demonstrate a successful partnership working
  • Have the ability to develop, lead and manage a team effectively (desirable)
  • Have the ability to manage colleagues including the deployment of those staff and appropriate delegation of tasks (desirable)
  • Must be able to work within a secure environment (desirable)
  • Must be able to work with learners with challenging behaviour (desirable)
  • Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Have the ability to motivate and enthuse teams
  • Have excellent organisational skills to prioritise workload to meet challenging deadlines and targets
  • Must be able to analyse trends and identifying impact on curriculum
  • Have excellent IT Skills
  • Demonstrate Effective partnership working (desirable)
