As a Formulation Technologist at the No7 Beauty Company, you will help deliver innovative formulation solutions that align with our Brand's strategic plans. Collaborating with a diverse network of partners, you'll ensure our formulations meet consumer expectations, category goals, and brand standards, and deliver formulations to market. Formulation Technologists report directly to the Formulation Manager.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver the formulation activities on the brand NPD and EPD plans against the consumer, category and brand requirements
- Use high levels of expertise and laboratory experience to build our innovation and formulation pipeline - optimising product specifications, challenge thinking and ensuring the best, most scientifically robust product design
- Ensure global regulatory compliance, quality and safety of our formulations
- Responsible for laboratory manufacture and testing of our internally developed No7 Beauty Company formulations
- All stakeholders are managed to ensure on time delivery to the correct cost and quality and optimises the output from the work
- Accountable for high quality of data and accuracy, and for delivering the final specifications and manufacturing documents.
- Prepare written reports for defined audience following scientific principles and legislative requirements.
- Conduct all necessary due diligence to identify and manage formulation technical risks
- Drive a culture of scientific excellence based on structured experimental plans and critical evaluation of technical data.
- Can innovate technical solutions for complex problems, interpret scientific information into valid conclusions and articulate business recommendations
- Own and manage the project formulation timings and technical risks that impact on delivery
- Is an important contact for manufacturing partners
- Supervise manufacturing trials and production at partner manufacturing sites
What you'll need to have
- BSc in Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field
- Have industry experience in the relevant area of formulation.
- Drive to problem solve using technical know how and create business opportunities to enhance consumer value
- Follows robust scientific principles in work to problem solve and create new opportunities
- Designing, conducting and reporting robust experiments and scientific investigations
- Passion for communicating specialist technical information to a variety of audiences
- Setting and working within quality systems
- You will have a good understanding of the value chain and manufacturing processes.
- You will have an excellent knowledge of multiple formulation technologies, raw materials and technical IP requirements within appropriate regulatory and legislation area.
- You will be skilled in managing your own project timelines and priorities, and work collaboratively with a cross functional team
- Shows a growth mindset
It would be great if you also have
- Completion of the Society of Cosmetic Scientists Diploma in Cosmetic Science.
- Awareness of Cosmetics Regulatory landscape.
- Experience of facial skincare formulation including UV protection
- Experience of the NPD development process
