The recently established Brand Design team, work at the centre of the wider Creative organisation, to clearly define the identity and attributes of each of these brands. Although the company at large is very much future focussed, JLR Classic occupies a unique position, as custodians of these iconic vehicle brands, with an amazing back catalogue of products to draw inspiration from. JLR Classic provide the widest range of products, services and experiences of any classic car organisation: continuation models, reborn factory rebuilds, restorations, bespoke commissions and modern interpretations, all with a global customer base.

As the market for high value, bespoke commissions expands & previous boundaries between "old & new" become ever more blurred, JLR Classic will harness new technology & modern design thinking, to create truly desirable products, that help to enhance our iconic legacy.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

The successful candidate will lead all areas of design for multiple projects across all brands within Classic. You will need to be highly creative, inspiring the wider team with a clear vision for each project, that will be taken through to delivery, maintaining the highest standards of design excellence at all stages.

The role requires the knowledge and confidence to create compelling proposals across vehicle and brand design. These proposals will cover a range of areas from bespoke clients, to branding, branded goods, partnership vehicles and reimagined vehicle concepts. This all needs to be simultaneously balanced with managing the practical feasibility aspects of each project, to ensure a successful outcome, that fulfils the clients' expectations and business needs.

You will work closely with senior management within Classic, while also reporting into the senior Brand Design management, providing a vital link between the two departments and ensuring that there is clarity and consistency in the delivery of all projects. The design manager will be responsible for building and maintaining a strong day-to-day working relationship with multiple key stakeholders across the business.

Knowledge, skills & experience:

Essential:

  • Proven experience and ability in illustration and visual evaluation skills to communicate ideas and solutions.
  • Proven experience of the generation of vehicle designs (exterior and interior) including experience of visualising and communicating design solutions in 2D and 3D.
  • Thorough knowledge of classic cars and an appreciation of their history and relevance.
  • Expert level of proficiency using 2D design software - Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Strong level of experience using 3D design and visualisation software - Alias / V-Red etc.
