About the role

Our overall mission is simple: Happy customers, travelling safely, on-time. We are looking for a Fleet Manager who will lead the safety, compliance, availability, and cost of Edinburgh Airport's fleet operation. The role will involve supporting the airports decarbonisation of our vehicle fleet, transforming the existing fleet to EV in conjunction with airport growth.

As Fleet Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the management, maintenance and operation of the airport's vehicle fleet. This includes ensuring the availability, reliability and safety of all vehicles used for airport operations, ranging from fire response, passenger coaches to operational response vehicles.

You will lead initiatives to foster a strong safety-based culture, engaging employees at all levels. This will include overseeing the development, execution, and review of all risk assessments within fleet maintenance to ensure identification and mitigation of potential hazards.

What you'll be doing

As Fleet Manager, you will lead our fleet maintenance team, working in conjunction with capital projects, finance, procurement, sustainability and engineering to deliver effective fleet operations.

  • Team leadership . You will provide direct line management to fleet maintenance team, ensuring the effective delivery of resource and ensure service excellence. Foster a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Fleet transformation : Oversee the acquisition, deployment, and disposal of vehicles in the airport fleet, supporting decarbonisation across our assets. Support the launch and integration of new vehicles into Operations.
  • Predictive maintenance. Utilise fleet management software to track vehicle performance, maintenance history, and operational efficiency. Analyse data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Budget responsibility. You will be responsible for managing the vehicle maintenance budget, tracking spend and ensuring maximum value.
  • Continuous improvement . Foster a culture for continuous improvement in processes and procedures. Continuously strive to achieve best practice and value for money.
  • KPI-led service management . Oversee the performance of key service suppliers and technology ensuring compliance with all legal and statutory obligations, balancing cost and service effectively.
  • Safety : Ensure all vehicles comply with safety regulations and standards, conducting regular safety inspections and audits to ensure the highest levels of safety. Ensure vehicles are roadworthy and compliant with local regulations by performing audits, providing feedback and trends to leadership.
  • Supplier management : Ensure all vehicles comply with safety regulations and standards. Conduct regular safety inspections and audits.
  • Licensing compliance : Ensure all vehicles comply with vehicle licensing regulations and standards, including ongoing compliance monitoring. Monitoring and managing the company's vehicle operator licences and working with the Office of the Traffic Commissioner for Scotland as necessary.
  • Incident Response : Ensure readiness of incident and emergency response vehicles, providing on-call leadership and out of hours support during disruption.

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone with experience in managing a vehicle fleet in a commercial setting. You'll have an understanding of running major vehicle fleets and delivering asset replacement in a complex setting.

  • Problem solving - you take a logic driven approach and will be able to quickly develop a deep understanding of Edinburgh systems and operational data.
  • Technical experience -you have knowledge of vehicle maintenance, vehicle licensing, and safety regulations.

The following additional items are nice to have but are not essential for the role:

  • Understanding and previous experience of airport operations
  • Degree level qualification in aviation or a relevant discipline
  • Experience as a vehicle mechanic
