Fleet Manager

Responsible to: Group Head of Reward & Compliance

Department: Reward

Location: JD Sports Fashion plc ("JD") Bury office (primary), plus some travel to

key Group locations, as required.

Role Background:

As a Fleet Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the company's fleet of vehicles. You will work closely with various departments to ensure that the fleet is consolidated and operating efficiently and cost-effectively while meeting the needs of the organisation and its various key stakeholders.

Within the role, the successful candidate(s) will deliver tangible financial and operational improvements to support our sourcing strategy. This will initially involve expenditure managed from our UK and European businesses but will expand to world-wide where leverage opportunities exist.

The successful candidate shall work with experienced divisional colleagues to collectively improve sourcing processes, commercial terms, supplier performance and innovation.

Expenditure in-scope for these roles include but software, including software-as-a-service covering issues

Ensuring ongoing relationship management with key suppliers in the form of business reviews to ensure optimum performance.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate(s) shall ensure that the Fleet is managed in accordance with Group and sector best practice, including but not limited to:

  • Develop and implement a fleet management strategy to optimise vehicle utilisation, minimise operating costs, and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Develop and manage the policies and processes for the procurement, maintenance, and disposal of company vehicles, including acting as the key business stakeholder to support the consolidation, sourcing and negotiation of contracts with Manufacturers, Leasing and Rental, Fleet and Risk Management suppliers alike.
  • Support processes for developing the fleet management to a Global scale.
  • Monitor and analyse fleet data to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Develop and implement fleet safety and compliance programs to ensure that all vehicles meet regulatory requirements and that drivers are trained to operate them safely.
  • Work closely with stakeholders across the organisation to understand their fleet requirements and provide solutions that meet their needs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including fleet providers, suppliers, and regulatory agencies.
  • Stay current on industry trends and best practices in fleet management to continuously improve the company's fleet operations.
  • Support key stakeholders in setting and achieving the Group's ESG targets.

Skills/Qualifications/Experience/Knowledge required:

  • Minimum 5 years of commercial experience in fleet management, preferably on a global scale within faced-paced omni-channel retail and/or relevant commodity/services experience.
  • Strong knowledge of fleet management principles, practices, and regulations with the confidence to own problems and issues, propose solutions and ensure deadlines and/or business goals are achieved.
  • The ability to analyse data, identify and initiate opportunities to deliver operational and financial efficiencies.
  • Influence - engage and drive change, owning and resolving issues and challenges.
  • Proficiency in fleet management software and other relevant technology tools
  • Strong engagement and communication skills and experience of successfully delivering process improvements and efficiencies.
