Fleet Asset Manager

Public and Integrated Transport

Bamber Bridge, Lancashire

Salary: £43,421 - £48,474

We are currently recruiting...

A Fleet Asset Manager to work within the Public and Integrated Transport Team at Lancashire County Council.

Our Fleet Services stand as a cornerstone of efficiency and sustainability by navigating the intersection of innovation and reliability. Our Fleet department goes beyond mere transportation - it is an enhanced network of vehicles designed to serve the diverse needs of the community. From state-of-the-art electric vehicles to robust traditional fleets ensuring seamless public services, Lancashire's commitment to a modern, well-maintained, and environmentally conscious fleet is unmistakable. The dedicated team behind these wheels is the driving force, employing cutting-edge technologies to enhance safety, reduce emissions, and optimize performance.

What we are looking for...

Knowledge and Experience

We're looking for someone with a great mix of knowledge and experience within vehicles & plant. You'll need to bring a wealth of expertise in fleet maintenance and management to the table. You'll be at the helm of an operating fleet that meets diverse needs while staying within budgetary constraints. Your role will involve not only ensuring smooth operations but also negotiating service level agreements and managing budgets. An understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements in Fleet Management will be key to your success.

Inquisitive

We're seeking someone with an insatiable curiosity, always probing and eager to know more. It will be extremely important to be one step ahead of the curve, envisioning what manufacturers and suppliers may unveil in the next four or five years - thinking electric vehicle technology and beyond. We're not just looking for someone who understands where things are now, but someone with a keen sense of where they're headed. Your finger will be firmly on the pulse of innovation, especially in emerging fields like autonomous vehicles and how AI could support with our fleet management. We want someone who is fuelled by curiosity, thrives on staying ahead of the game, and is eager to shape the future.

Communication

You'll enjoy building collaborative working relationships with other service areas, understanding their needs but also being able to communicate difficult messages when needed, as we can't always accommodate everyone's needs due to regulatory and budget constraints. You'll have excellent communication and influencing skills, being able to negotiate with suppliers and have the engineering knowledge to understand how different specifications of vehicles or plant can be combined to create the assets we need as an authority.

Why join us...

Development: we'll provide support and development at each stage of your journey with us from induction through to personal and professional qualifications. There will be opportunities for career progression both vertically but also into other areas of the organisation if you wish. They'll be time for reflection and interaction with your line manager, as well as peer support from those within the wider team.

Inclusivity: we don't have a "one size fits all" idealism, we embrace diversity and that includes around personal and family requirements so appreciate that you'll want to be working from home when you can, your hours may vary or change and for us - delivering successful outcomes is more important than watching the clock
