Join our Asset & Technology Solutions team as a Fire Services Business Manager and you'll deliver complex work that really matters to our business, and the world around you.

To lead and grow the existing Fire Services business. This includes full people, asset and P&L responsibility. The business currently delivers a range of fire related services both internally to Balfour Beatty and externally, including; Fire Alarm install & maintenance, fire fighting equipment, signage, Fire Risk Assessments, Training, Fire Door Inspections etc.

What you'll be doing

As a Fire Services Business Manager, you will have the following accountabilities:

  • Overarching control of the Fire Services business
  • Growth and development of existing fire services business, with additional activity streams, increased revenue and profitability
  • Delivering a clear long term strategy for Fire Services aimed at delivering success and profitability aligned to the budget and three year plan.
  • Supporting the Early Careers contingent within the team - currently 4nr. fire safety degree apprentices at various stages in their development
  • Developing effective stage gate documentation in line with defined process and procedure for any investment or special projects required
  • Reduce Baflour Beatty leakage across these business areas through work with SBUs, projects and the bidding teams

Working closely with the UK Head of Fire (group level) to ensure compliance and support the wider business with their compliance challenges

Who we're looking for

You will have the following:

  • Excellent computer skills - including Excel / Word / PowerPoint and ideally conversant with other software and systems, e.g. MS Project / Oracle / Insphire / Uptick
  • Ability to lead a business, dealing with challenges and opportunities to deliver effective performance
  • Ability to manage a P&L
  • Ability to effectively manage conflict and negotiation
  • Ability to analyse complex data, draw conclusions, produce reports and make recommendations to Directorate
  • Experience of managing a complex array of suppliers and subcontractors
  • Business management experience
  • Good knowledge of, and experience in, the commercial Fire industry
  • Good knowledge of current and relevant fire related British standards and JCOP
  • Experience of managing teams and individuals
  • Excellent Presentation Skills.
