The Cost & Value Management team are looking for a EPM Senior Manager to expand our delivery capacity to serve a growing pipeline of opportunities.

The KPMG Finance Transformation capability within our FS Consulting business specialises in delivering large scale Finance function transformation initiatives and supporting CFOs on a wide range of issues. Over the last few years, we have established a reputation as the leading provider of top-quality consulting and technology delivery services in the Banking sector. Our Cost & Value Management practice is a priority area for significant and strategic growth and the team works with leading Investment and Retail Financial Services Institutions, focusing on understanding the core issues and opportunities, in order to deliver value-adding change across their functions. The key drivers of change for our clients are value creation and cost reduction, leveraging analytics capabilities to deliver these outcomes. Our service offerings reflect this demand.

To support the CVM team in our growth ambitions, we are searching for high calibre candidates who can demonstrate;

  • An ability to achieve exceptional quality of delivery by leading teams in technical and non-technical formats for engagements or supporting business needs,
  • Commitment and professionalism to our clients and/or senior management, and maximise the impact of messages either articulating verbally or using tools.
  • A willingness to pro-actively support practice development initiatives proposed by the senior team or other team members, that align with long-term objectives
  • Organisation by managing teams to deliver priorities across engagements, business development or practice development
  • Confidently leverage internal and external networks to source information pertinent to delivery of engagements or growing the CVM Practice.
  • Business acumen to identify and progress new opportunities that present themselves with existing or new clients

Leadership & Management: Successful candidates are expected to lead large teams of 10+ members in client engagements, business development and practice development initiatives. They will be responsible for managing the quality and timely delivery of specified artefacts, and may often need to source and identify team members themselves to support them.

Stakeholder Interaction: Our clients continually challenge us to ensure we maintain our high standards. Candidates are expected to lead daily, weekly and monthly interactions with clients and senior stakeholders. Ideally, lead discussions, and articulate options and recommendations to complex issues. Confidently discuss technical and non-technical issues on a daily basis. Where necessary, escalate clearly defined risks and issues to Engagement Managers when they arise.

Growth and building of the CVM practice: Drive the growth of CVM business by leading on responses to clients on opportunities identified and lead build of innovative and client focused go-to-market sales propositions.

Successful candidates should have Financial Services Industry experience, and in particular knowledge/experience of consulting to design/deliver solutions which have assisted in driving the client's strategy. They should also be able to demonstrate the following:

Client Delivery

  • Mobilising and leading client delivery on major and complex transformation programmes/projects;
  • Manage teams towards the development of solutions in EPM technology delivered to the Client
  • Manage large teams (c.10+ resources) to deliver client delivery workstreams
  • Take accountability for the successful delivery of engagement outputs and Client outcomes
  • Provide structure and direction to the delivery of engagement activities
  • Build positive and collaborative relationships with senior Client stakeholders
  • Facilitate collaborative and fulfilling working environments for the Client and KPMG staff on engagements
  • Leading development of client solutions and propositions, including embedding these within technology applications
  • Analysis of business drivers of Financial Services firms to enable the design of fit for purpose Client solutions
  • Ownership and review of analysis and reports delivered to Clients

Business Development

The candidate will need to build and leverage both internal and external relationships to

  • Support Partners and Directors in driving business development and sales activities
  • Lead on request for proposals (RFPs) to Client opportunities
  • Lead teams to develop innovative and Client focused go-to-market sales propositions
  • Build credibility and relationships in the market
  • Seek to cross-sell and bring opportunities to other part of the firm where appropriate

Practice Development

  • Support senior management with internal operational responsibilities for the team
  • Form teams that will assist to support the delivery of initiatives that grow the and promote the EPM practice internally and externally
  • Lead practice development initiatives (that grow and promote the CVM practice internally and externally) and provide guidance to junior members of the team on these initiatives

People Management

  • Lead on formal training, knowledge sharing, networking activities for the team
  • Act as informal career development mentor and coach for junior members of the team

Successful Candidates should have the following skills/qualities:

Core / Necessary skills & experience

  • Leading large scale Transformation delivery in Finance at Global institutions
  • Functional design experience with delivery of solutions using tools like SAP, Oracle, Anaplan, Qlik, PowerBI, Tagetik or similar
  • Lead the implementation of solutions in EPM Technology (Oracle EPBCS, SAP SAC, Anaplan)
  • Past experience in working in a large consulting firm to deliver transformation engagements
  • Strong understanding of Banking and Insurance Finance KPIs and reporting and delivering technology solutions to support financial reporting (including understanding and implementing data dimensions/hierarchies)
  • Experienced in designing/transforming organisational processes and reporting requirements in one or more key business functions in Finance
  • Strong people manager who is able to large teams and develop/coach others
  • Experience working with and influencing stakeholders
  • Experience in leading Project management processes
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills
  • Strong PowerPoint skills with ability to deliver exec level reporting and client deliverables
  • Strong excel skills with ability to perform high level / detailed modelling
  • Ability to create and deliver high level presentations and outputs to senior stakeholders
  • Manage diverse project teams with a mixed of Client, KPMG, 3rd party suppliers and independent contractor resources
  • Ability to review and challenge information that has been provided by other team members, ensuring the information is 'fit for purpose' and at the right level of granularity

Additional skills and experience (preferred)

One or more of the following qualifications:

  • Accountancy qualification with strong post qualification experience (or equivalent experience)
  • Consulting experience

Successful Candidates Should Have Experience in One Or More of The Following Areas

  • Design and or delivery of financial planning/reporting capabilities (Scenario Planning models, Financial/Operational planning solutions)
  • Development of cost management capabilities which includes intercompany or cross functional cost allocations design/review, multi-dimensional profitability analysis and/or solution delivery and definition of service costing methodology within an organisation
  • Delivery of reporting solutions in Finance, Strategy or Operations to drive decision making. This includes elements of KPI framework design, KPI definition and development, delivery of a reporting solution in technology, cost to serve, sell and profitability analysis
  • Design and implementation of Target Operating Models within Operations, Finance or Sales functions
  • Experience across all phases of the Solution lifecycle including conceptual design, POC, vendor selection, Programme mobilisation, solution design, delivery management, testing and Dry-run
