Job Description

The Financial Communications and Media Manager will ensure that SGS receives regular coverage from financial and corporate media outlets. This will include the production of regular press releases targeting a financial audience as well as interaction with journalists specializing in business and economy. This will be done with the aim to boost SGS's reputation and establish its strategic narrative in the public eye. It will involve ongoing interaction with business and corporate teams at global and regional levels within the group.

Reporting line and level

The Financial Communications and Media Manager is a key member of the global communications team, reporting into the Head of Investor Relations, Communications and Sustainability. Although the role has no direct report, it coordinates with investor relations, sustainability, corporate communications, marketing, brand, digital, copywriting, as well as business and operational teams.

Specific responsibilities

  • Produce and write press releases targeting a financial audience
  • Build relations with the business and economy departments of influential media in Switzerland and key international markets
  • Establish and protect SGS's strategic narrative and reputation in the media by juggling a combination of proactive and reactive communications
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the SGS corporate public relations strategy
  • Interact with internal corporate and operational departments to gather the information needed to support SGS's business narrative
  • In conjunction with the Digital Analytics team, regularly monitor and report on SGS's reputation in the media
  • Be ready to contribute to other areas covered by the communications team, as required: internal communications, editorial & publications, crisis management, event management and investor relations.

Qualifications

Required skills and qualities

  • Strong writing skills in English with an ability to combine synthetic, analytical and strategic messaging
  • Ability to articulate impactful written and verbal reactions and representations on behalf of the Company
  • Ability to think strategically and to understand the complexities of different industries and target audiences
  • We are looking for a quick learner, who enjoys coming up with innovative ideas and implementing them
  • You should be dynamic, influential and have excellent interpersonal skills
  • You should be able to work with flexibility and autonomy

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, communications, or related field
  • 5-10+ years working in financial communications, corporate communications or business media
  • Experience writing financial and corporate press releases
  • Excellent network of Swiss and international media contacts, including journalists specializing in business and economy
  • Required English (native or bilingual proficiency) and German (professional working proficiency), fluent French is nice to have
  • Experience working in an international environment and understanding complex organizations

Additional Information

This position can be based in Switzerland, Paris, Madrid, Bristol or London. Regular business travels might occur, especially to Geneva if not based in this city.
