The Finance Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring the smooth, accurate and controlled running of core finance processes across the company.
The role will lead on financial operations, controls and compliance, while acting as a key partner to the business to improve processes, systems and ways of working.
This is a hands-on role with broad exposure across finance, requiring strong attention to detail, sound judgement and the ability to balance control with efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Own the end-to-end finance operations cycle, including sales invoicing, purchase ledger, expenses and cash management, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and strong financial control
Maintain and continuously improve month-end processes, including balance sheet reconciliations, supporting documentation and adherence to close timelines
Ensure robust financial controls are in place across systems and processes, including banking, approvals and audit trails
Prepare and submit accurate VAT returns across all Group entities, maintaining up-to-date technical knowledge and compliance
Support the year-end audit process, acting as a key contact for auditors and ensuring timely, high-quality responses and documentation
Maintain and develop finance policies, procedures and documentation in line with internal standards and QMS requirements
Act as a business partner to teams across the organisation to improve financial processes, data quality and system usage (e.g. CRM and finance systems)
Support company secretarial requirements and ensure compliance with statutory filing obligations
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce risk and enhance the quality of financial information across the business
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Strong understanding of finance operations, financial controls and month-end processes
High attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy under pressure
Well-organised with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
Confident working independently in a hands-on role without direct reports
Strong systems mindset, with experience improving finance processes and workflows
Effective communicator, able to build relationships across finance and non-finance teams
Proactive approach to identifying risks, inefficiencies and improvement opportunities
Part-qualified (e.g. AAT, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent experience
Demonstrable experience in a similar finance operations or management role
Experience of working in a multi-entity or group structure (desirable)
Experience supporting audits and statutory compliance requirements
