Location: Hybrid working (average 1/2 days in the Newbury office per week)
Role Purpose:
Responsible for delivering accounting and reporting of monthly financial results across the Enterprise (MNS and VGEL and IOT) segment of the VGE business. The role involves managing set of operational and reporting processes through various team to enable delivery of timely, controlled and understood financial accounting, financial reporting and MEC results. The role requires strong people management skills, proactive management of MEC related expectations with key stakeholders such as within the PRI, FP&A and FDS and other internal teams as well as dealing with external and internal auditors as and where required.
Key Accountabilities:
• Responsible for delivering accounting and reporting in accordance with VGIAP principles, Group guidelines and timelines; includes overseeing operational outcome of various sub-processes between WD-1 to WD+5, reviewing and approving output of the various sub-processes including accruals and deferral calculations prior to posting in the ledgers,
• Analysing consolidated view of functional/segment reporting comparing actuals as well as vs budget through sequence of formal and informal engagements with relevant stakeholders and finally presenting final commentaries at functional level (such as Flash reports etc) to senior management
• Work closely with FDS/other stakeholders to ensure high level of confidence is maintained in the Fin ops delivery and provide relevant assurance and insights to build a solid and trusted relationship with stakeholders
• Understand complex nature of system interplays and interfaces between them
• Ensure relevant SOX Compliance, internal controls and Governance are in place and adhered to; implement and maintain a culture of continuous process and systems and controls improvement; Be FinOps SPOC for various ongoing projects
• Conduct various engagements with wider finance and product teams where required to understand product pipeline, upstream systems/process changes with a view to identify downstream impacts on accounting and underlying financial and management reporting; Lead relevant conversations with accounting and system experts where impacts are identified and liaise effectively with upstream teams to make sure that end-end implementation takes into account FinOps requirements and delivers the change in controlled and understood manner
• Manage a team of offshore accountants and ensure team are effective, motivated and empowered to do their roles and implement an effective working culture embedding Vodafone spirt
• Review and approve (as required) balance sheet reconciliations and ensure all balance sheet assertions are assured; maintain an accurate and up to date Risks & Opportunities listing for their designated business unit. Work collaboratively with business finance and other relevant teams to manage closure of key risks/opportunities. Provide detailed support to Senior management in undertaking quarterly, half yearly and year certification process for their respective unit
• Ensure Audit is successfully delivered by the auditors with no outstanding audit points
• Ad hoc support and analysis for Senior Finance Operations Manager and Head of Finance Operations
Core competencies, knowledge and experience:
The Ideal candidate will possess excellent analytical and operational capabilities, strong financial technical skills, enjoys developing new processes, able to critically evaluate impacts of relevant process and system changes, has experience of managing stakeholders at E band level, and have the proven ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely to senior management
Must have technical / professional qualifications:
• Degree qualified plus ACCA or CIMA or equivalent qualification
• Prior experience in Telecoms and/or Technology Sector
