Finance Manager - Global Businesses and Partnerships - Maternity Cover

This maternity cover is a critical role in Global Businesses & Partnerships, aiming to be a key support for the Finance Director and Commercial Director of Finance. The individual supports the Firm's efforts by being an engaged commercial business partner through actionable insights and analysis that challenge the business owners in a consultative fashion. Establish and maintain relationships with key internal stakeholders and provide monthly financial information and analysis to those stakeholders. Consolidates results for the organization and leads the monthly close, forecasting, and annual budgeting processes.

This role is a hybrid of Finance Control and Commercial Finance - it would suit an individual with strong controls and process background, moving into a more commercial and FP&A focus.

The role will support global market offerings: ONE, Subscriptions, Response and Control Risks' partnership relationships such as Seerist.

Requirements
What You'll Do:

Commercial focus

  • Develop and support the budget, forecasting, and long-range planning processes by partnering with the operational teams to develop new tools and methods, and pressure testing key assumptions.
  • Own the annual budgeting process, ensuring targets are built with full granularity and buy-in from the budget holders.
  • Manage team of 1 analyst, tasked with supporting individual departments with Products & Partnerships
  • Manage the monthly forecasting cycle, working with budget holders to provide short and longer term accurate forecasts underpinned by robust data and trend analysis.
  • Act as a business partner with corporate accounting and group commercial finance to support strong internal controls along with continuous improvements in the annual budgets, forecasts, and monthly variance reporting.
  • Responsible for the Monthly Management Information pack, with the aim of continuous improvement of Control Risks' commercial performance
  • Translate financial and non-financial results into actions to support key stakeholders in driving the business forward.
  • Lead pricing activity with scenario modelling and profitability analysis to make informed recommendations to the Product Owners
  • Create a high-performing team and culture focused on value creation, delivering results, stakeholder influence and leadership development for career progression.
  • Perform ad hoc modelling and analysis exercises as needed

Financial Control & Operations

  • Manage the team to ensure that recurring monthly accounting tasks are accurate and timely close month end - including posting accruals and prepayments
  • Manage the team to ensure that centrally posted numbers such as payroll, 3rd party costs are in-line with expectations / correct as appropriate
  • Manage the internal finance controls to establish and maintain a robust environment. Work with Regional and Group Finance teams to embed a controls framework to improve accuracy and align processes.

Who You Are:

  • Holds a recognised accountancy qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA)
  • Functional expertise: Recent and relevant financial, industry experience with demonstration of analytic and information driven experiences
  • Strong commercial acumen is a must, as well as demonstrable experience of understanding relationships between key financial and non-financial business drivers
  • Relevant Financial Planning and Analysis experience required
  • Extensive experience in building annual budgets, monthly forecasting and ad hoc financial modelling required
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills with a variety of stakeholders
  • Exposure to international, complex setup
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel expertise a must)
  • Excellent written and verbal communicator at all levels

Preferred

  • Systems experience with Tagetik and Microsoft Dynamics or similar ERP system such as SAP
  • Experience with tools like Tableau, or Power BI (data processing and programming languages a plus)
