Within DBG sits the De Beers Polished Diamond Division which aims to vertically integrate De Beers by managing the polishing and procurement of diamonds for De Beers Jewellers, Forevermark, and the Origin polish program. It is poised to enhance De Beers' market position by ensuring a consistent supply of high-quality polished diamonds and leveraging advanced technologies for market competitiveness. The Polished Diamond Division seeks to streamline operations to improve margins and ensure a high-quality diamond supply for De Beers brands. By utilising AI and machine learning, the division aims to validate demand and optimise inventory management. Additionally, it will enable De Beers to establish and grow contract polishing, develop new polishing facilities, and explore mergers and acquisitions for further expansion.
Job Description
The Finance Manager plays a pivotal role in supporting the financial wellbeing and strategic direction of a fast-growth business. This position is responsible for delivering accurate and timely month-end reporting, forecasts, and budgets, while driving insightful data analysis to inform decision-making. Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements through the preparation of statutory accounts and leads the production of management accounts and audit processes. With strong interpersonal skills, the role collaborates across departments to foster financial discipline, transparency, and agility, enabling this strategically pivotal business to scale effectively and sustainably. The role will also be responsible for establishing the governance processes and documentation for the Polished Division.
Key responsibilities:
Financial Stewardship & Control
- Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes for the CCAP business, ensuring accurate and timely submission to Group.
- Manage the consolidation of financial data from all CCAP entities, including international subsidiaries and joint ventures, ensuring compliance with IFRS.
- Oversee all aspects of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, driving process efficiency and ensuring robust controls are maintained and improved.
Strategic Stock & Capital Management
- Lead periodic stock impairment reviews (NRV testing), partnering with commercial teams to develop robust assumptions based on market trends and brand strategy.
- Drive improvements in working capital management through rigorous analysis and management of inventory, receivables, and payables.
- Provide financial oversight for physical stock-takes and cycle counts, ensuring controls are effective and that all variances are investigated and resolved.
Finance Business Partnering
- Act as a Finance Business Partner for the Polished Division team providing timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Develop and maintain the CCAP Group business plan, budget, and forecasts, collaborating internally and externally to ensure alignment, challenge assumptions, and drive accountability.
- Create compelling financial models to evaluate new initiatives, providing clear recommendations to leadership.
Process & Systems Innovation
- Play a key role in finance transformation projects, including the implementation of new finance and stock systems/modules to enhance our capabilities.
- Proactively identify and execute opportunities to automate manual reporting and transactional tasks, freeing up capacity for value-added analysis.
- Champion the use of BI tools to deliver insightful, self-service reporting to business stakeholders, empowering data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Governance
- Develop and implement robust internal controls to safeguard the company's assets and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, through collaboration with internal audit. Ensure an appropriate balance is achieved between internal control and business agility.
Qualifications
- Qualified accountant (minimum 2 -3 years PQE) from a professional services background, ideally with industry experience within a large or complex business environment.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and financial modelling skills.
- Proficiency in using data and analytics to drive operational performance and make informed decisions.
- Extensive experience with Microsoft Excel and ideally experience with SAP, Onestream, HFM and FDM.
- Experience in Group financial reporting, with a strategic mindset.
- The Job Holder has no supervisory responsibility for staff but will be required to liaise with internal and external stakeholders on a daily basis, and must therefore be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
- The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent analytical skills, and will have the motivation and drive to be an integral part of process and system improvements
- Technical accounting knowledge and experience of statutory reporting requirements.
- A relevant accounting qualification - ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent.
