Description
Jesus College is seeking a full-time Finance Manager. This position is essential to the College's operations, assisting the Head of Finance in implementing systems and policies for effective financial management. The Finance Manager will serve as a deputy to the Head of Finance, ensuring the smooth operation of the Accounts function. This role includes direct line management of two Accounts Officers. The Finance Manager will work closely with other accounting staff, the College's Administration offices, and the Human Resources department.
Key Responsibilities
- Deputise for the Head of Finance, direct line management of two Accounts Officers
- Responsibility for the production of management accounts
- Reconciliation of monthly control accounts
- Assist with the production of annual budget and forecast
- Produce draft annual accounts, for College and subsidiary companies
- Reconcile and journal quarterly investment portfolio movements
- Maintaining documentation of standard operating procedures
- Assist the Head of Finance with system implementation
- Provide back-up for Payroll Officer
- Oversee processing and correct allocation of transactions, preparing journals
- Ensure timely payment of all grants, scholarships and bursaries
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Professional Accounting qualification (Ideally ACA/ACCA)
- At least 2-3 years experience in a similar role
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail and focus on accuracy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent IT skills with good knowledge of MS Office, Excel skills are important
- Experience working successfully as part of a busy Accounts team
- Demonstrable experience in working to tight timescales and deadlines
- Flexible attitude and ability to work under pressure when necessary
- Strong technical skills and experience of preparing annual accounts for audit
- Experience of preparing management accounts with related analysis and commentary
- Experience of preparation of subsidiary company accounts and related consolidation
- A pro-active and resourceful individual who has a hands-on approach
