About the Role
Base Location:Perth or Glasgow
Salary:£47,600 - £71,600 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

With the transition to net zero gathering pace, the business is seeing a significant rise in the uptake of low-carbon technologies, particularly EV charge points, heat pumps, and battery storage. The goal is to facilitate the connection of around two million EVs and one million heat pumps by 2030. The growth in the take-up of low carbon technologies is needed in order to get to net zero, and demand is increasing sharply. In addition to more demand-side connections to the network, an increasing number of generation projects like solar and battery are seeking to connect also.
The Finance Manager - Operations is responsible for delivering operational support to the business in respect of Connections projects, including the review and closure of Connections projects amounting to c£50m of revenue annually, managing the day to day governance of projects including invoicing, refunds, transfers and cancellations, and the compilation and analysis of the Connections Regulatory Reporting pack for submission to Ofgem as part of the wider Distribution Regulatory Reporting Pack, in accordance with licence conditions. The Finance Manager - Operations reports directly to the Financial Controller and leads a wider team of 7. This role is a secondment opportunity to December 2025 to allow the existing Finance Manager to support Distribution Transformation workstreams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Oversight for financial closure of Connections projects, ensuring reviews are being completed efficiently and effectively in line with stakeholder requirements, and refunds and overspends are appropriately approved.
- Responsibility for oversight and management of project ledger, including ensuring transfers, cancellations, invoices and refunds are processed on a timely basis and reconcile to Connections Accounts Receivable.
- Management of period end close activities including review and approval of journals, management of Work In Progress reporting to the business, and detailed interaction with external auditors on Connections audit requirements.
- Provision of guidance and support to the business including management of the 'Named Projects' tracker to drive future performance.
- Completion of the annual Connections Regulatory reporting pack for all projects financially closed in year, including breakdown of quote and comparison to costs incurred, and reporting against Guaranteed Standards.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- A qualification with a professional accounting body (e.g. ICAS, ACCA, CIMA) or qualified by experience.
- A strong background in management of a General Accounting environment.
- A good working knowledge of ERP software (Oracle desirable).
- An ability to manage and prioritise workloads to meet business needs and ensure targets are met.
- An ability to develop, motivate and lead a team.
