Job Description

We're recruiting for a Finance Manager to join our Retail Division. We're offering a competitive base salary, great benefits and the opportunity to work on all aspects of financial planning, financial management (revenue and expenses) and financial control to ensure the profitability of our Workplace Savings business.

What you'll be doing:

  • Understanding the key drivers of financial performance for Workplace and Retail Savings. This will involve working with the business to drive financial insight and promote appropriate management actions.
  • Producing analyses/trend reports and Management Information packs for Senior Management to aid decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Developing financial plans for the Workplace Savings and Retail Savings business across all financial metrics.
  • Managing the production, analysis and provision of supporting business commentary on current and projected P&L, covering revenue, direct expenses and FTE positions, highlighting trends and risks against Forecast and Budget.
  • Overseeing the Workplace Savings and Retail Savings direct expense bases and ensuring that appropriate governance, controls, and reporting are in place. You will also appraise allocated costs to and from the business.
  • Establishing and developing a strong cross functional working relationship with key stakeholders across Workplace, L&G Retail, Asset Management and the wider Group. Using the knowledge gained to support strategic and commercial decisions and assess the financial implications of these decisions.
  • Supporting the Workplace MD with the organisation and running of the Workplace Savings Management Committee.
  • Managing a team of three. (please note previous management experience is not essential)

Qualifications

Who we're looking for:

  • Qualified Accountant.
  • Good knowledge of the Financial Services industry and the performance metrics used within the industry.
  • Understanding of cost allocation and profit measurement, planning and forecasting cycles, financial approval procedures/processes and monthly expenditure reporting and analysis processes, and alternative cross-charging methodologies and behavioural implications.
  • Advanced knowledge in the use of spreadsheets, databases and analysis tools such as MS Excel, Anaplan & Power BI.
  • Ability to design, develop and maintain complex financial models.
  • Cost management experience.
  • Experience of presenting complex financial data to senior stakeholders (some of whom are non-accountants) on accounting results and changes.
  • Ability to build relationships and communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a wider team, and being comfortable being the central coordinator.
  • Practical experience of taking the lead, both in a defined situation and when a need for action is identified.
