Finance Manager

This job is brought to you by Jobs/Redefined, the UK's leading over-50s age inclusive jobs board.

About 9fin

The world's largest asset class, debt, operates with the worst data.

Technology has revolutionised equity markets with electronic trading, quant algos and instantaneous news. However, in debt capital markets, the picture is completely different. It still behaves like it's in the 1980s; trillions of dollars of trades are placed over the phone, news is slow, and corporate credit information is imperfect and scattered.

Our mission is to change this.

9fin's proprietary technology delivers fast and comprehensive financial, credit, legal & ESG analysis. Our clients are able to make faster, more informed decisions, win more business and most importantly, save time.

Our fast growing list of clients include 9 of the top 10 Investment Banks, leading Asset Managers, Hedge Funds and Law Firms.

The Role

We are looking for a dynamic Finance Manager to help us level up our financial reporting processes as we continue on our rapid scaling journey at 9fin. Backed by top investors including Spark Capital and Redalpine, with revenue growing at over 100% year-on-year and ambitious plans for 2025 and beyond, it's a really exciting time to join the business. You can expect lots of autonomy and will be instrumental in shaping a best in class global finance function in a rapidly evolving environment.

What you'll work on

Every day is different, but here's an example of the kind of things you'll work on:

  • Assist with monitoring, analysing and reporting on KPIs, identifying variances, and suggesting improvements and solutions
  • Interrogate current finance team systems and approaches, making recommendations for improvements in efficiency and automation
  • Assist with annual audit across UK and US entities, including statutory account preparation under UK GAAP (FRS 102) and US GAAP (in conjunction with external auditors)
  • Ad-hoc reporting and analysis to support senior business leaders

Requirements

This role will be a great fit if you are:

  • An accounting technical expert with a high attention to detail
  • Hands-on, ready to roll up your sleeves and get involved in all day-to-day activities, whilst also being able to ensure exceptionally high quality of output amongst competing deadlines
  • Able to clearly grasp the big picture and wider business context, whilst being deep in the detail of the day-to-day
  • Excited about growing with the role and business as we scale a best in class finance team
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment
  • Excited by technology, automation and system improvement, and willing to share well thought out and researched ideas for the continued evolution of our finance function
  • An excellent communicator. Able to leverage communication skills to ensure efficiency and cohesion across a global finance team and collaborate cross-functionally across the wider business
  • A team player and a great mentor to junior team members

Qualifications / Experience:

Required:

  • Qualified accountant (ideally ACA or ACCA) with a minimum of 2+ years PQE and strong technical experience
  • Excellent knowledge of UK GAAP / FRS 102 (additional knowledge of US GAAP would be advantageous)
