About the Role:

Our client is looking for a dedicated and skilled Finance Manager to lead their finance team. This role involves providing timely, accurate, and meaningful financial information to the Strategic Management Team, operational managers, and budget holders. You will assist the Finance and Facilities Director in developing a financial strategy to support informed business decision-making within a strong financial control environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership:
    • Lead, motivate, and develop the Finance Team, ensuring efficient and effective day-to-day operations.
    • Develop KPIs and control checks to evaluate performance.
    • Deputise for the Finance & Facilities Director when required.
  • Business Partnering:
    • Work with senior management and budget holders to develop financial understanding.
    • Provide financial expertise for new service designs and business plans.
    • Maintain strong working relationships with all departments.
  • Day-to-Day Operations:
    • Oversee payroll and pensions, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
    • Manage purchase and sales ledgers.
    • Ensure VAT, Gift Aid, and Gambling Commission returns are completed accurately and timely.
  • Statutory and Management Accounting Reporting:
    • Coordinate monthly management accounts, budget setting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
    • Prepare for audits in line with current accounting good practices
  • Financial Systems Control and Development:
    • Develop and formalise robust internal financial controls.
    • Continuously review and improve financial systems and procedures.

Experience and Skills Required:

  • ACA, ACCA, CIPFA, or CIMA qualification (or equivalent)
  • Experience leading a successful finance team within a similar-sized organisation
  • Knowledge of advanced accounting principles, financial reporting, cost accounting, budgeting, VAT, and payroll
  • Strong IT skills with experience in financial systems and processes
