Job Description
The Finance Manager plays a pivotal role for the day to day finance operations of Lightbox ensuring the on-time recording of high quality financial data for month end reporting against latest forecasts within the group timetable internally to the Lightbox team and Externally to Group reporting requirements. This role is also responsible to help ensure a rigorous control environment is maintained to group standards.
To ensure that data is presented accurately and that any accounting issues are identified, understood and resolved on a timely basis through detailed planning and process management. Also ensuring a robust control framework is maintained for the company to grow within. In addition, the individual will take responsibility for the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives in financial reporting and for liaising with external auditors whilst business partnering with the Lightbox team.
This role is a 12 month fixed term contract.
Key Responsibilities:
Finance Management
- Takes day to day responsibility for the management of the Finance function within Lightbox.
- Manages a team of 2-3 direct reports and ensures they are set clear objectives and targets to ensure that tasks are completed in a timely and effective manner. Ensures that all members of the team are appropriately trained and have the necessary resources to complete the tasks allocated to them.
- Ensures that appropriate controls and governance procedures are in place to protect and safeguard Lightbox assets and finances.
- Evaluates business performance versus target (eg. budget) by analysing and interpreting data and metrics and identifies any material variances. Recommends actions to address adverse variances.
- Supports other functions with the detailed analysis required to inform business decisions.
- Makes recommendations and proposal to improve the financial performance and profitability of the business.
- Ensure that all proposed capital projects are subjected to an adequate RoI evaluation and that appropriate sign off is secured before such projects commence. Actively monitors ongoing performance on capital projects to ensure objectives are met and expenditure remains within approved limits.
- Ensure that all business activities of the company remain complaint with local legal and financial requirements (eg. tax, import/export, customs etc.)
Financial Reporting
Responsible for the preparation of all financial reporting (both management and statutory) within the Lightbox business, to include:-
- Ensuring financial reporting, internal systems and controls are in place to ensure to the provision of management information, compliance (UK IFRS) and responsibility for book-keeping and audit.
- Preparing regular (typically monthly) management financial reporting analysis for the Lightbox management team and the wider De Beers group as required.
- Ensuring that all statutory reporting requirements are completed for the business to an appropriate standard in all relevant jurisdictions.
- Ensures the accuracy of all reporting.
Budgeting and Forecasting
- Takes the lead in the preparation of the detailed annual Lightbox budget ensuring this is aligned with existing strategic plans and commercial objectives.
- Interacts with Lightbox functional managers to ensure an appropriate budget for their area of responsibility is prepared and included in the overall budget plan.
- Liaises with De Beers group financial function to address any detailed queries or concerns in relation to the budget submission.
- Develops updated forecasts as required for comparison with the annual budget as required
- Identifies potential variances to budget and recommends actions to address these if adverse.
Payables and Receivables
- Ensures that orders and external financial commitments are only entered into by the business when appropriate level internal approvals are in place and that the goods/services to be received are appropriate to the needs of the business.
- Ensures that adequate systems and procedures are in place and followed to ensure the timely payment of all suppliers, following confirmation that goods/services of the appropriate quality have been received by the business.
- Ensures that appropriate credit limits and payment terms are secured for all Lightbox customers and follows up to confirm that upon completion of supply appropriate payment is received by Lightbox on a timely basis.
Qualifications
- Appropriate financial qualification (eg. ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
- Experience in financial leadership roles in a commercial environment.
- Commercially savvy.
- Strong organisational skills to identify and manage multiple workstreams.
- Logical and structured thinker with an analytical approach.
- Able to draw key insights from complicated data sets.
- Strong presentation and communication skills.
- Motivated and enthusiastic self-starter who is also an effective completer/finisher
