Finance and Operations Director

This job is brought to you by Jobs/Redefined, the UK's leading over-50s age inclusive jobs board.

Greenpeace UK is an independent national/regional organisation within the global Greenpeace campaigning network, which acts to change attitudes and behaviour, to protect and conserve the environment and to promote peace. The global network of Greenpeace organisations comprises 26 independent national/regional Greenpeace organisations with presence in over 55 countries across Europe, Africa, the Americas, Asia and the Pacific, as well as a coordinating and supporting organisation, Greenpeace International.

In this role, you will provide leadership, strategic direction and oversight for the Finance and Operations Department, and play a vital cross-organisational leadership role. You will manage deputies and create a 'can do' culture which ultimately helps our campaigns succeed out in the world.

The purpose of this role is to provide long-term leadership, strategic direction, and oversight for the Finance and Operations Department, ensuring that our financial, legal, IT, and facilities functions are capable of supporting the organisation to deliver its campaign ambition and conducted in alignment with the UK and global Greenpeace vision and strategy. The role will elevate finance in the organisation, be a crucial part of the senior management team and work closely with the board as a strategic partner.

The Finance and Operations Director will continually develop Greenpeace's capacity to deliver innovative, effective financial management, governance, risk management, and resource allocation while helping manage organisational risks; both within the UK and in support of priority NROs and the global programme.

Location: Islington, London. Our hybrid working model enables us to enjoy the benefits of both office based and remote working. We ask that staff work from the office in Islington 40% of their time, with 20% required as a minimum. Reasonable adjustments as well as specific office based needs will be considered for those with long term health conditions and disabilities.

It would be beneficial if you could bring:

  • Experience of devising and implementing change management initiatives that encourage understanding and inclusion.
  • Experience of overseeing changes or updates to organisational systems, structures and design including but not limited to risk management, finance and governance.
  • Commitment to the values of Allyship, an understanding of social movements, and ideas about how organisations like Greenpeace can effectively participate in and enable them.
