The Role

At Vicarsford Farm, Fife the Unit Manager is to be responsible for the health and welfare of, and maximise production from, a Sofina Foods commercial breeding herd using the standards set out by the Company in the policy and procedure manual.

Salary £35,000

Duties Include:

  • Manage daily routines, including feeding, bedding, and livestock care, following the procedure manual.
  • Adopt and implement new plans as directed by the Area Manager and Breeding Herd Manager.
  • Plan staff holidays and weekend shifts, ensuring full cover by coordinating with the Area Manager.
  • Work with the Area Manager to maintain biosecurity and protect herd health.
  • Ensure all husbandry tasks follow the procedure manual.
  • Oversee and manage vaccination and medication programs.
  • Monitor animal health and report any welfare concerns to the Area Manager and Management.
  • Ensure the unit has enough feed, straw, and AI weekly, and maintain an effective water system.
  • Keep the unit in good condition, meeting maintenance standards, including routine tasks and fence repairs.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Previous experience working with livestock is desirable.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role would be an advantage
