Facilities Manager

At VetPartners, our practices and support teams rely on well-run, safe and welcoming environments. As Facilities Manager, you will play a vital role in keeping our estate compliant, efficient and fit for purpose - supporting both our York Support Office and requests from our practices

Based at Spitfire House in York (hybrid working, ideally around 60% office-based), this is a varied, hands-on role with some travel to sites as needed.

About the role

You will be the key contact for facilities management across our network and Support Office. From statutory compliance and contractor management to preventive maintenance and small projects, you will ensure our buildings and infrastructure operate safely, smoothly and cost-effectively.

You will work closely with our Property Director, Health and Safety team, practice managers and external providers to deliver practical solutions and high standards across an estate of more than 450, locally managed, trading sites - across the UK. .

What you will be doing

  • Acting as the main point of contact for facilities management across practices and the Support Office.
  • Leading statutory compliance activity, including asbestos management and supporting fire risk assessment actions.
  • Coordinating and managing contractors and service providers, ensuring safe working practices and contract compliance.
  • Supporting practice managers with health and safety, maintenance queries and regulatory requirements.
  • Managing preventive maintenance programmes and responding to urgent issues when they arise.
  • Maintaining accurate compliance records and facilities documentation, including statutory reporting data.
  • Overseeing security, cleaning, waste and grounds services at the Support Office.

You may also support small projects across the estate and contribute to sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives.

What we are looking for

  • Proven experience in a facilities or property management role
  • Strong and up to date awareness of the Building Safety Act and facilities compliance standards
  • MBIFM - ideally a Member of the British Institute of Facilities Management
  • Building/Trade based qualification
  • IOSH/NEBOSH
  • Potentially with CDM/SMSTS
  • Demonstrable experience in facilities role - perhaps a qualified surveyor with a strong interest and knowledge/passion for FM delivery
  • Knowledge of property construction methods, building fabric, and mechanical and electrical services.
  • Proven experience in additional works management
