Facilities Manager

College location: East Surrey College (Redhill) and John Ruskin College (Selsdon)

Salary: Subject to qualifications, skills, and experience

Hours: Full time (37 hours/week) Various shift times across Monday-Fridays 07:00-15:00, 11:00-19:00 & 13:00-21:00 an the very occasional Saturday

The purpose of this role is to support the Director of Facilities & Estates on arrangement with the day to day running of the facilities department and management of the Facilities Operatives across two sites. Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, maintenance and help desk tickets are prioritised and actioned in line with the College policies & procedures. The role would deputise for the Director of Facilities & Estates on operational matters as required.

We are looking for an individual with experience of working within facilities to be responsible for:

  • Delivering the reliable and smooth running provision of caretaking, cleaning, security and grounds service across all College sites
  • To assist the Director of Facilities & Estates with the management of external contractors, including close monitoring and recording of maintenance works completion.
  • Provision of shift-plans and duty officers rotas, ensuring adequate provision to meet business needs

Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to successfully perform a 1 st line management role and must have an in depth knowledge of Health and Safety regulations and the impact of these regulations on the facilities, security and site management. They will be expected to assist with budget management, reviewing policies and procedures for the delivery of the Facilities services, perform risk assessments as well as undertaking staff management responsibilities.

Relevant Health and Safety qualifications, such as IOSH, NEBOSH, COSHH and First Aid, would be advantageous together with good IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and online databases.

The successful candidate must have:

  • Maths & English GCSE / Level 2 equivalent (achieved or willing to obtain)
  • Relevant and up to date Health and Safety qualifications and training (e.g. IOSH, NEBOSH, COSHH, first aid) is highly desirable
  • Experience of managing a facilities team across multiple sites
  • Have an understanding of Safeguarding considerations and the impact of these on facilities, security and site management
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft Word and Excel, and experience of using online systems and databases
