Job overview

As a Facilities Manager at West London NHS Trust you will need to be able to show your consistent approach to your own personal development and the staff you have managed. Providing information on your learning to date in cleaning, catering and waste, showing how you have made improvements in your current role. The role requires a manager who has a good understanding of leadership and has fully managed staff and services. A person who will guide and support a team of staff to deliver safe and effective patient services through a range of In-house and contracted solutions within Mental Health and Community care settings.

The role requires you to have a clear understanding of both the NHS Catering and Cleaning standards so that you can develop ideas and services whilst working on your own initiative. This is a very busy and varied position.

This is being advertised as a full time permanent position Monday to Friday. A driving licence is essential for the role as it will include travelling to sites in and around West London.

Main duties of the job

Be responsible for the day-to-day effective service delivery by identifying areas where service and efficiency can be improved implementing the necessary course/s of action.

Liaising on a day-to-day basis with either the Head of Facilities or Contract managers reporting and monitoring service deficiencies as appropriate and ensuring that remedial action is taken as required.

Support supervisory and management staff in the investigation of incidents / complaints of poor performance and where appropriate ensure that line management is fully aware of issues.

To support the management of the Security team at the London end of the trust. Review risks associated with site security and remove, reduce or manage security risks as per Trust policies and procedures.

Arrange and attend contract monitoring meetings, assisting in the assurance that services are delivered to time, quality and cost as per the contract agreement, KPI's and targets set.

Undertake regular audits to contracted services as designated. Provide reports and recommendations on audit outcomes.

Assist in the monitoring and reporting of maintenance issues.

Ensure effective use of computerised monitoring system and continuous evaluation and development of Quality Assurance and value for money.

Routinely assist the Head of Facilities in providing compliance and assurance reports.

Continuing your own personal development using knowledge and skills to support others.

  • Degree and or demonstration of equivalent knowledge/skills in Facilities Management, Transport and/or Sustainability

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Relevant supervisory or management experience.
  • Experience working within facilities services (domestic / catering / portering / transport or sustainability etc).
  • Ability to create processes for auditing and monitoring of services.
  • Sound Financial management and budgetary experience within a large organisation
  • Sound knowledge of transport services regulations within the NHS or other large public sector organisation.

  • Relevant supervisory or management experience.
