Purpose of the Role

As an Exterior Model Project Manager you will collaborate with the Exterior Model Manager to deliver our product ambitions and to shape our Beyond100+ strategy.

In this role you will manage the physical clay and hard design model projects including drivable show cars, managing associated budgets, internal / external supplier relationships and the data release. You will work cross functionally within Research & Development with a team of Designers, Engineers and other internal/VW Group functions to translate design visions and future technologies into 3D surfaces. Reporting into the Head of Exterior Design your main responsibilities include;

• Supporting the Exterior Model Manager with outsourcing of projects, budget control and improving processes
• Plan and attend model presentations for Bentley or VW Group Events in the UK or abroad
• Understanding and leading in the production of hard & clay modelling and milling of clay models
• Ensure the Product Emergence Process (PEP) is applied and followed throughout the Design process
• Develop and implement Health and Safety procedures to ensure safe working environment

About the Team
The Design Department is responsible for creating everything from the initial concept through to the final design of the Interior and Exterior Design including Colour & Trim as well as for Modelling & Design Operations/Projects. The Exterior Design function at Bentley offers the pinnacle of sophistication, innovation, and meticulous craftsmanship.

About you - Skills and Experience

The successful applicant will be a Lead / Project Modeller with proven ability in constructing and developing clay models, hard models and show cars. Extensive industry knowledge will be needed to support the team. You will have an Automotive /Transport Design Degree or the equivalent experience required for the this role.

• Control of projects & associated budgets
• Effective and innovative problem solving skills
• Strong interdepartmental communication and presentation skills
• Management of work load in a busy environment and the flexibility to accommodate changes to scope of work
• Understanding and experience of the Milling process
