Role: Business Development Manager
Location: South Ribble and Chorley
Contract: Full time (36.25 hours per week) / Permanent
Salary: £43,693 - £44,711 plus 6% car allowance
Closing Date: 9 March 2025
Do you have an eye for spotting commercial opportunities and the ability to build excellent relationships?
We're looking for a proactive and results-driven manager to maximise income generation through a number of initiatives including weddings and functions at Astley Hall and Worden Hall, the shop at Astley Hall, sponsorship for our events and the development of packages for our Tourism Network .
In a role that works across two organisations, you will be the key point of contact for business tenants at Astley Hall and Worden Hall and will work with teams across the council to make best use of council-owned venues and open spaces.
What you'll be getting up to:
- You will develop and manage the councils' wedding and functions offer at Astley Hall in Chorley and Worden Hall in South Ribble.
- You will work with the Wedding and Functions Coordinator to ensure events run smoothly and we deliver an excellent level of customer service
- You will oversee income and expenditure for bookings to maximise income generation.
- You will work closely with the contracted bar supplier and caterer for our bookings
- You will manage stakeholder engagement and act as the main point of contact for tenants
- You will maximise the potential of our commercial assets
- You will work with the councils' Events Team to look at new opportunities to bring new events to our boroughs
- You will work with the councils' Communications and Marketing Team to promote our commercial activities
- You will work with the councils' Culture and Heritage Team to ensure our commercial offer is in line with our cultural services at our venues
- You will work with other teams across the council including Property Services to develop a vision for our historic sites.
- You will manage, monitor and report on budgets, income and expenditure and use data to continually develop and improve our service
- You will seek out new commercial opportunities for the councils
Who we're looking for someone who:
- Is customer focused with a positive attitude
- Is a great problem solver, adaptable and with brilliant negotiation skills prepared to take on a wide variety of work
- Can be innovative and creative in their approach
- Can work efficiently while demonstrating value for money
- Is able to create and maintain excellent relationships with external and internal colleagues
- Has a keen interest in commercially driven work
- Has experience working in hospitality/retail/events
Other requirements
- This role requires some travel around our boroughs. You should have a valid driving license or the equivalent mobility.
- This role requires some out of hours evening and weekend working
- Personal Alcohol License Holder is preferred but not essential
